| Burnout for the Nintendo Gamecube is an exreme highway racing at its best. An arcade experience that is fun, fast and challenging. A racing game where you are incouraged to drive hazardous passing through red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road and pulling "near misses" with on coming cars. This game takes you into all thoughs cool car chases you've seen in the movies and brough 'em right to your Nintendo Gamecube! In Burnout, the game includes a bundle of gameplay modes. Championship, head to head, Time Trial, and specials. In Championship your pit up against 3 other drivers in a mad rush though city trafic for the finish line. As you win 1st place in the beginning 3 tracks, you'll progress though the game. New city tracks and vehicles can be unlocked. In Time Trial mode you race against the clock for your best lap time. I think this mode is a great way to better your skills when you head compete in the championship. With all this awsome game play, it just is not complete without a muli-player mode. Here you can challenge a friend in a head to head race. It there is one cool feature in this game it is gotta be the 'Special' that allows one to view all the car crashes from your the previous race. You can change with speed of the animated crashes from fast to slow motion. The c-stick can toggle the camra for a full 360 degress and can zoom in or out. The graphics for Burnout a think are very well done. With smooth textures, real lighting effects and reflections that adds a realistic touch to the racing experience. The game runs smooth at a rate of 60 frames per second. The real life car crashes look and sound quite impressing. Though at times it may need some improvement. I think all the various track enviroments look and feal awsome expessiously when I'm driving on the wrong side of the road and watching the car just skim right my me. Altogether graphic wise, it's well done. Burnout just would not have the great punch to it if it was not for it's sound effects. The sound polution of busy trafic, honking horns, screachig tires, and the sound of twisting metal car crashes is what keeps the game experience real. The background music fits nicely with the game experience and changes tone to suit the mood of the game. All together I think Burnout for Gamecube is a well rounded racing sim both fun and challenging with hours of gameplay. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good arcade style racer. |
