| Nascar: Dirt to Daytona is the second Nascar game to hit store shelves since EA Sports Nascar Thunder 2003 for the Nintendo Gamecube. Unlike Nascar Thunder 2003 which is designed for a more casual audience, Dirt to Daytona is a simulation racer geared more to in-depth racing audience. It includes a deep career mode featuring four different race series, car part upgrades and paint shops. Dirt to Daytona captures the fun and challenge of Nascar racing defently worth a test drive! Nascar: Dirt to Daytona features two main game modes Fast Action and Career. Fast Action offers you plently of game modes within from Single race, Multiplayer, Beat the Heat, Pro Trainer Championship and Unlockables. Single race is a great way to practice or just have fun with one of four series from Dirt, Modified,Truck and Cup. In Multiplayer you can invite up to three of your friends for a 4-player split screen race. Beat the Heat challenges you to complete in various objectives such beating professional drivers lap times. In Pro trainer learn the tricks of the trade from professional drivers as they will give you some helpful tips. You then will be challenged to beat their lap times on a number of tracks. For Championship mode its basic set-up it simular to carreer modewhere you race through a full season without having to worry about earning sponsorship. Last but not least Unlockables mode makes things interesting with cheat codes you can unlock by completing in all game mode found in Fast Action. Choose codes from monster size cars to paint ball shooting! Click here for codes. The feal of Nascar racing would not be the same without great graphics. The people at Infograms made sure of that recreating the live atmosphere of Nascar racing using photo realistic style enviroments. Lighting effects during day and night are amazing. Special effects such as smoke and dust fly in the air when taking sharp turns. Visable car damage from fender benders, loose tires, smoke and fire appear after a nasty collision. Those I think the car accidents lack the real damage it needs such as shattered windows, tires popping off, and more debre littering the track. The physics in animated car spins and major air born car flips after a head on collisions are amazing and fun to watch. You can even cause a crazy 20 car pile up with the help of going reverse on the track. My favourite. :) Even with state of the art graphics it just would not be completed without sound effects and music. The recreated sounds of Nascar racing add to the depth. Car engines variation of sound when pressing and releasing the gas mimic real motor noises that feal like it should. Collishions railing side walls and swiping other cars sound effects come out well. There is also shouting of cheering fans you can hear usually when taking first place adds life to the crowds surrounding the track. One thing I think they fall quite short on would be the music. The background menu music gets repetitive with no veriety of sound tracks to choose from. Unlike Dirt to Daytona, EA Sports Nascar Thunder 2003 includes a bundle of licenced sound tracks to enjoy. Summery Looking past some of its down falls you see it is a well developed racer that offers hours of gameplay including an heavy career mode to a four player split screen. I would recommend Nascar: Dirt to Daytona to all racing fans to give it a try. If you liked Nascar Neat for the PS2 then you'll love this one. |
