| The EA Sports franchise is a big name in video games. Creating some of the best sports sims ever, and FIFA Soccer 2002 is no exception. With realistic graphics and great gameplay sport gamers surely enough would pick this game up. EA Sports has done an nice job recreating the look and feal of soccer from the detailed fields to the thousands of cheering fans. EA mixes great realism in both graphics and gameplay. The handling is tight and easy to learn for a more enjoyable game. The controls are quite simple. The A, B, and X buttons are used to do power-up shots and passes indicated by a power meter. The Y button gives your player a burst of speed used best when out running opponents. FIFA 2002 features 16 leagues, and more than 500 teams and 10 tournaments. There are several game modes such as Season mode, FIFA World Cup, and Qualifying. Each mode such as Season and FIFA World Cup lets you pick from several leagues verse against a number of teams and work your way to the top. In Qualifying mode, its the best way to practise and learn all the basic moves before heading out into the championships. You might even unlock hidden modes and cheats when qualifying for the world cup. EA added a edit mode where you can create your own teams and players. Its quite interesting since you can edit everything from team uniforms, teams and player names, players age, skin and hair colour, size, etc. The team you edit can be entered in either tournments or multi-player mode. FIFA 2002 has a multi-player mode and can support up to 4 players at once. FIFA 2002 graphics are realistic at best. With real time lighting effects, colourful well render stadium enviroments, and smooth animation. The look of play fields and player animation simulate what real life soccer would be like. Player models are well rendered with life like porportions and animation. Though the surface of their faces takes on a plastic look with all the light reflectiond. All together the graphics are great from hundreds of animationed cheering fans to great replay videos. EA Sports made an effort to bring you the best sound effects I think was accompleshed well. From the sound of cheering fans to the kick of the ball. Just like real life sports FIFA 2002 features game announcers giving commentry on whats going on. EA selected a nice blend of background music with can hear either during a game of in the menu screen. Altogether EA Sports did a great job recreating the real-life feal of national soccer. Graphics, sound and game play are excellent. I recomment FIFA Soccer 2002 to sport gamers out there. Even cassual sport gamers should give it a try! |
