In March 2005, Founder of Dilmah, Merrill J. Fernando and his family announced at the 2nd Dilmah Global Distributor Conference, a commitment to honor decent and humane values in every aspect of their
business. Presenting ‘The Five Pillars of Dilmah', Merrill J. Fernando restated the philosophy that led to the
birth of Dilmah, the same philosophy that will drive the brand in the future; the belief that every form of human endeavor including business, should have a higher purpose, that of human service.

The Founder pledged that Dilmah and the tea and related businesses of the MJF Group shall be guided by
five ‘pillars'.

committed to protecting these traditions, communicating them to the world via the industry service projects of the company and the MJF Foundation which seek to develop Ceylon's great tea industry for the benefit of tea consumers.
