WORK EXPERIENCE

2008 Scanning and Records Management Project Clerk Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board

Duties:

Taking old minutes, decisions, orders, and approvals in binders and converting these paper documents into the portable document format (PDFs). These confidential and public access documents were made optical character recognition (OCR) readable so that these could be cut and pasted into a word processing program or made searchable by various keywords, names, terms, and the like. Search variables were highlighted in powder blue within a particular page of a document. Once these were double checked so that the scanned copies corresponded with the original paper black and white (monochrome) documents, that the OCR process was done well, and that pages were annotated thoroughly, these records were uploaded to a database. Great care was then taken to catalogue each document efficiently, using standard naming conventions, and missing pages in the original were diligently noted as comments. Credit was then given to the archivist and cataloguer of these documents.
