Opening of New Library

A new library opened in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Called the Eric J.M. Salem Music Library, it was established in 1903 as a teaching library for music librarians, music historians, and music performers. It also served the function as an activity centre for children, adolescents, and adults.

A wide variety of Internet, print, and non-print materials are available. There are different types of music to choose from.

The activities it has are storytelling, arts and crafts, and puppet shows for children. Storytelling is held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Arts and crafts is held on Monday and Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Puppet shows are held once a week on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Booktalks for adolescents are held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Book readings for adults are held once weekly on Friday in the evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please call the Library for more information on dates, duration of the activities, and cost.
