About the Library

The Eric J.M. Salem Music Library was founded in 1903 by Eric Salem in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Funds were acquired through donations by various local non-profit organizations and schools. It was founded in pursuit of the study of music librarianship, music history, and music performance.

It contains a diverse collection including jazz, classical, opera, and popular music. Access is available to print, audio, video, and Internet resources.

The activities it has are storytelling, arts and crafts, and puppet shows for children, booktalks for adolescents, and book readings for adults.
