Dinosaurs
WebQuest
A 3rd Grade WebQuest
Eric Johnston

Introduction
Dinosaurs roamed the Earth millions of years ago, but extinction has made
it very difficult to learn about their past. Remains of dinosaurs have been
found all around the globe as fossilized bones. In this WebQuest, it is
your job to learn about dinosaurs and their lives.

Task
In groups of 2-3, you will use web resources to learn about the
life of your assigned dinosaur. By the end, each student will develop a name for a new
dinosaur that has been "found", develop a bio about it and draw and color a picture
of it in its habitat.

Process
Part I
This is a group activity
1. First, you will need to print a dinosaur worksheet for each group.
2. Next, you will be assigned a dinosaur to research by me.
3. Answer the questions on your fact sheet in complete sentences please.
4. Print a picture of your dinosaur to attach to your fact sheet. The group part is now complete.
Part II
You are to work alone on this part.
1. First, you will need to print another dinosaur worksheet for you.
2. Go here to find out how dinosaurs are named. Make sure
you read the directions at the top of that page.
3. Develop a name for a dinosaur that you have just discovered.
4. Fill out the information sheet for your new dinosaur.
5. Create a picture of your dinosaur. Please be sure to fill the
page with his surroundings as well. (ex. plants, other animals)
