These days, the U.S. is at war with Iraq. Newspapers, TV News, and radio talk-shows cover the war all day long. It is the issue that concerns the whole world. There are antiwar demonstration all around the world. And most people around the world(except the U.S. and the U.K.) agree with demonstration. Oil prices are leaping high. Where did this chaos come from??
President Bush of the U.S. says that it is the war for peace. But most people disagree. There must be some concealed purposes. First, perhaps Bush wants to get oil at a cheap price. The victory of U.S. in this war means that oil in Iraq will probably be under Bush's control. The fact that the Bush family is related to the oil industry makes ulterior motive conspicious. And, the industry and economy of U.S will be stimulated during the war.
Through this war, the U.S. can show their power around the world and threaten other countries. There are some people who support this war, more precisely, this invasion. Bush says this war can end Hussein's autocracy and give freedom to the Iraqi people. He also insists that the war will take Weapons of Mass Destruction(WMD) out of Iraq and would entail less terror. Are these assumptions true? They may be true, but there are so many problems behind them.
Primarily, the U.S. doesn't have the right to intervene in Iraqi domestic policies. If they think they can, it is a big mistake. The U.S. is not a global police force. And in case of WMD, they cannot be sure that any are in Iraq. The U.S. assertion is unreasonable. The U.S. is not only out of their right, but also doing the sanguinary. They are killing many innocent civilians. As the war became harder to U.S, their bombing became stronger. Then more guiltless people were killed. Is it not different from terror? But American news agencies(like CNN) are concealing and changing the truth. If they show the truth exactly, antiwar voices could be louder. And the U.S. is destroying ancient and precious relics, these priceless relics which are the property of all human beings.
Korea, my country, has been in alliance with the U.S. This time, Korea will send troops to assist the U.S. mainly because of the silent threats and pressure from the Bush administrator. He said "We won't attack North Korea if you help us". So Korea has to help the U.S.
This problem, war on Iraq, is caused by ignoring global diversity. The U.S. needs to respect other countries and other cultures. It is the age of multiculturalism. Here are some lyrics of a Japanese pop song which was at the top of the single album chart in Japan.
"Yes. All of us are unique flowers in the world. We have different seeds, one by one. We just have to each do our best to grow our flower."
