Day Two: FOOT
Day to see sights around Tiranë.
Second Night in Tiranë.

Day Three: BUS
Bus to Berat (2 hours). Stay there.

Day Four: BUS
Bus accross border into Greece, then on to Ioannina (3 hours). Maybe see Oracle of Dodoni or Archeological Museum. Stay at Hotel El Greco.

Day Five: BUS
Bus to Delphi will take most of the day (6 hours). Spend night in Delphi at Pension Odysseus.

Day Six: BUS
Morning and early afternoon to explore Delphi. Then afternoon bus to Athens (3 hours). Night in Athens at Hotel Acropolis House.

Day Seven: BUS
Morning walk around Acropolis. After lunch take bus or train to Corinth (1.5 hours). See temple of Apollo. Stay at Taverna Dafni.

Day Eight: BUS
Long bus ride to Sparta (4 hours). Stay in Hotel Maniatis. Visit old Sparta. Take bus to Mistra (10 minutes). See old Mistra for 3 hours and then return to Sparta.

Day Nine: BUS
6 hour bus back to Athens. Stay again at Hotel Acropolis House in Athens. See Agora, and Acropolis Museum.

Day Ten: METRO / FERRY
Quiet morning in Athens. Afternoon take metro to Piraeus, then take ferry to Iráklio, Crete. The over-night ferry arrives in Iraklio around 8 am.

Day Eleven: FOOT / TOURBUS
Check in to Hotel Poseidon in Iraklio’s New Port. Then walk around town. Visit Archeological Museum and Knossós.

Day Twelve: BUS / FOOT
Bus to Chania (Khaniá) takes 3 hours from Iráklio. Walk around Chania. Stay at Amphora Hotel in Chania.

Day Thirteen: BUS / FOOT
Take 6:15 am bus from Chania to Omalós, then hike down Samariá Gorge to Aghia Roumeli. Stay at Aghía Roúmeli Hotel.

Day Fourteen: FERRY / FOOT
Take ferry to Chóra Sfakiá. Then take bus back to Chania (3 hours) to stay at the Amphora Hotel again.

Day Fifteen: BUS
Long bus ride from Chania to Iraklio (3 hours). Then take the bus from Iraklio to Aghios Nikolaos (1.5 hours). Enjoy the town. Stay at Pension Milos.

Day Sixteen: FERRY
Ferry to Rhodes (takes about 8 hours). Arrive in Rhodes and check in at the S. Nickolis Hotel in the old city. If Ferry is overnight the morning and afternoon can be spent enjoying Aghios Nikolaos.

Day Seventeen: FOOT
Day to enjoy Rhodes. See Odos Ippoton (Street of the Knights), Palati Ippoton Rodou (Palace of the Knights), and Ródhos Museum (Archeological Museum of Rhodes). Stay at the S. Nickolis Hotel in the old town.

Day Eighteen: FERRY / FOOT
Ferry to Marmaris, Turkey. Stay there at the The Kaptan for the night.

Day Nineteen: RENTAL CAR
Rent car. Drive north three hours to Ephesus and Selcuk. Spend the day at those ruins. Then drive (90 kms) north to Ismir. Spend the night in Izmir at the Anba Hotel.

Day Twenty: RENTAL CAR
Continue north to Bursa (330 kms) (5 hours). Stop at Bergama to see Pergamon, about 90 kms north of Izmir. See the Green Mosque and Green Tomb in Bursa. Spend night in Bursa at Celik Palas Hotel.

Day Twenty-One: RENTAL CAR
Continue north to Istanbul (250 kms) (4 hours)
Stop in Iznik to see museum. Spend night in Istanbul at Pera Palas Hotel

Day Twenty-Two: FOOT
Visit Istanbul and see sights there. See Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. Spend second night at Pera Palas Hotel in Istanbul.

Day Twenty-Three: RENTAL CAR
Drive to Edirne (231 kms). See Baha’u’llah’s houses and Selimiye Cami mosque. Turn in car. Night in Edirne at Kervan Hotel.

Day Twenty-Four: RENTAL CAR
Take into Bulgaria and on to Plovdiv (174 kms). See the old city and some museums. Spend the night in Plovdiv at Marica Hotel.

Day Twenty-Five: RAIL
Morning train to Sofija (3 hours). See Ethnografic Museum and old churches. Spend the night in Sophia at Serdika hotel.

Day Twenty-Six: RAIL
Train to Skopje. Night in Skopje

Day 27: RAIL / BUS or RENTAL CAR
Five hour train south to Larisa. In Larisa find a bus or rent a car and go on to Trikkala. Stay in Trikkala at Hotel Lithaeon.

Day Twenty-Eight: RENTAL CAR
Drive accross mountains of central Greece (259 kms) to Igoumenitsa. Early morning stop near Kalambaka to see monasteries: Metamorphosis (Grand Meteoron), and Ossios Varlaam. In Igoumenitsa stay at Hotel El Greco, or take a late afternoon ferry straight to Brindisi (8 hours) in Italy and spend the night there. Turn in rental car before crossing the Adriatic.

Day Twenty-Nine: RENTAL CAR
Either wake up in Brindisi or take ferry to Brindisi in the morning. A day to take it easy in Brindisi, seeing the Castello Svevo and Duomo. Stay at the Hotel Mediterraneo.

Day Thirty: RENTAL CAR
Rent car and drive through Apulia. See churches of Santa Croce, Sant’ Angelo, and San Matteo in Lecce, also the Roman ampitheater there. Visit Museum in Taranto. Dinner in village of Martina Franca, then on to Alberobello for a night in a cottage at the Dei Trulli hotel.

Day Thirty-One: RENTAL CAR
Visit Castellana Grotte near Putignano. Afternoon visit to the Castel Del Monte south of Andria. Drive north to Barletta to see the Colossus. Turn in car and spend the night in Bari at the Boston.

Day Thirty-Two: TRAIN / FOOT
Morning train to Naples (4 hours). See Herculaneum or Pompeii. Visit the Sibyl’s Cave in Cumae. Night in Naples at the expensive Paradiso hotel.

Day Thirty-Three: FOOT / TRAIN
Morning in Naples. Take an afternoon train to Rome (2 hours). Night in Rome at the La Residenza.

Day Thirty-Four: FOOT
Day in Rome. See Vatican and Ancient Rome Second night at the La Residenza in Rome.

Day Thirty-Five: FOOT / FLY
Second Day in Rome. See the Catacombs and Appian Way. Fly home this evening.
