A swashbuckling good time. This movie tells how the original Zorro, Don Diego Vega, played by Anthony Hopkins, hands the mantle to the new Zorro, Alejandro Murieta. Lots of swordfighting, lots of romance, lots of humor, and not without real drama and emotion.
Some fun facts: -Although the character is called Don ("Lord/Sir") Diego de la Vega in this movie, the addition de la in Spanish names is actually feminine, and the consisent "Diego Vega" in all earlier movies and books is correct.
-Antonio Banderas is the first Spanish or Latino actor to play Zorro.
-The characters of Alejandro, his brother Joaquin, and Captain Love are real historical figures from California history.
-Anthony Hopkins' stunt double is named with the rest of the cast in the final credits, right after Hopkins himself.
