Analyze This

Robert Deniro plays a parody of himself as a mob boss who finds himself in need of a psychiatrist, played by Billy Crystal.  It could have been stupid but it got carried off pretty well.  There is an appearance by Tony Bennett later on, which makes up for anything which might have been bad throughout the movie.  And there is some good actual drama here, which is a pleasant surprise.  Robert Deniro really is stressed out, and you really do feel sorry for him, which shows how well Robert Deniro was able to pull off his role.  It's good as two hours of mindless entertainment.  And, of course, there's the famous shot from the ads of a mobster threatening a cow.  If you must know, the cow never actually gets shot.  Oh, there's a happy ending, too-that's the part where Tony Bennet comes in.
