Fun Facts!
~
-In some productions of CATS (at least in the original Broadway), Mistoffelees sings Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer instead of them singing it themselves - doesn't make much sense to me, but feh.
-In the Japanese production of CATS "Quaxo" is entirely different from Mistoffelees AND played by a woman.
-"Ramu Tamu Tagaa", the Japanese Rum Tum Tugger, is entirely white.
-In most productions there is no Plato - Either Tumblebrutus or Admetus take his place. The video has all three.
-Jellylorum, in most productions, is
shown as being more around the age of Bombalurina, Demeter, etc..., while in the
video she is older,
more like Jennyanydots.
-Originally Etcetera and Rumpelteazer were the same character. Rumpelteazer was only seen during the Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer song, and was Etcetera during the rest of the play. Eventually they decided to make Rump a full-time character.
-Cassandra sings Macavity with Demeter instead of Bombalurina in the Mexican production of CATS.
-On the subject of Cass, in one production she and Tumblebrutus take the place of Coricopat and Tantomile as the resident mystic twins of the tribe.
-In T.S. Elliot's original plans, the cats traveled to the Heaviside Layer in a hot-air balloon.
-Alonzo and Munkustrap switch places big-time in the Broadway and London productions - Alonzo is second-in-command/Demeter's mate in the Broadway Production instead of Munkustrap. Also, Alonzo's costume is more brown then white and black in most productions.
-In the making of CATS they had to decide between two versions of Memory, one by Nunn (his full name escapes me) and one by Tim Rice - you can view Rice's version HERE.
