FAI YOUTH CUP SEMI FINAL

St Patricks U18s 0 - 4 Bohemians U18s

A disappointing day for the saints as they crashed out of the FAI youth cup to Bohs. The greek god Apollo was not on our side as as sunny day was not on offer and the weather would play a major role in this match. The game on whole was a dull affair with the players battling the elements throughout. In the first half the saints were up against it as a strong wind blew towards their goal and Bohs took advantage by putting the saints under extreme pressure.Soon their efforts paid off as the they took the lead after putting a ball across the box in the net. Then double tragedy for Pats as Bohs struck quickly after the tip off with a goal from an over head kick one from the Baggio master class department. This really put Bohs in a strong position and they put the game beyond Pats with a third goal before half time.In the second half Pats thought the wind that was their foe in the first half would turn into a friend, not so as the wind died down and a heavy shower made conditions even more tricky and impossible to play football.Pats tried all the same and had some good chances but failed to take them.Bohs claimed their place in the final with a fourth controversial goal as they Referee had judged the ball has crossed the line when it clearly didn't,sadly it was not Pats day and the dream is over for this crop of players, hopefully better fortune will encounter the next.
