previous day's entry August 3rd, 2003 next entry
Heya! (not the Kunfu sound! Hehe.)

Whaddup, people? Yo, yo to the homies! The whodies and the whodiettes, how r ya? Chilling under the bling-bling sun? Haha...not again! *shaking head* ANYWAY, gosh, I think I'm catching it from Daniel. And a little bit more of Malcolm's influence. Haha! :P But yeah...I had such a great time at the bay and the beach! It was just AMAZING! I'll talk more about that further on later. But let's get this party started, yo! *tilted head and one hand out - being cool!* HAHA!!! I'm definitely crazy, people!!! :P
So yeah, after finishing up my entry and talking to a few people on IM on Friday night, I talked with Aye and got ready for the trip. We were psyched. It was already around 11pm by then. But I had to finish up my book. That was my goal and I was determined to finish it. So I did. I read the last 50 pgs of it. And I gotta say, I didn't like the ending. What was that?! It was totally weird and a bit creepy. I can't talk about it now cuz I don't know if you guys have read the book yet or not. So if you wanna talk about it, give me a holler! But I did come up with some thoughts on it while I was reading it. Well, my work is pretty boring. I spent two whole days nothing but stuffing envelopes and my mind wanders. Anyway, so I was thinking if we are "created" by this powerful force, then how was this force created in the first place? Doesn't everything have a beginning? Where does this powerful force comes from then? Where does anything ever begin from? I mean, yeah, one would take a scientific approach and say the rocks and the radiation from the sun created life on Earth and such. But what I'm asking is that where do all that come from. The space as we know it should have a beginning, right? It just doesn't exist from nothing. And another thing is that, if we are indeed in a story like Sophie, then who's doing the writing? Is everything just simply a story? Then, where do those "authors" live? Don't they have their own life as well? Then who's writing about their lives? So it can't be that everything that we're experiencing is nothing but a story. It's impossible. If one story is telling about my life and the people that I know are just fictional characters, does it mean that they don't really do stuff when I'm not there with them or what? Or is life just a big complex web of stories that are all interwined and stacked? That is a very funny thought to think about - that we're nothing but characters in a story. But then, who's reading about us? Who are those that are real living beings and where do they live? Hmm...well, just some thoughts that I had at work the other day and thought I should write about them. But my conclusion is that we will never find answers to our questions cuz it is just impossible to find such answers and I don't think we're destined to find out that much about ourselves. But I don't think we will ever stop asking questions because that is our nature.
Onto much less philosophical stuff...well, so Aye and I both went to bed around 2am cuz we were just so excited about the trip. We're always like that. We get too excited about everything! Haha! But yeah, we got up at 5 and prepared some food. Aye cooked some fried rice and I made sandwiches and got drinks and packed up everything. We were going to Mathews by the Chesapeake Bay with Daniel and a friend of his, Greg. Daniel owns a house there and he has invited us there cuz it's just so peaceful and he knows how much we love the nature and water. So they got to our house around 6:30 and we loaded the car with our bags and went on our journey. The air was cool and nice and it was just a wonderful start. We were a bit afraid that there would be thunderstorms. We listened to some tapes and just talked. We got there around 9:30. We turned into the driveway and we could already see the bay a little farther down. There was a big pond in front of the house with lots of water lilies, cat-tails and something I can't remember the name of as of right now. A pool was on the right side of the house and it looked cool and refreshing. There were lots of trees on each side of the lawn and it was just a peaceful place. We got into the house and explored the rooms. Everything was spacious and just comfortable. And then Daniel opened the back door and showed us the dock. A big field lay between the house and the dock. It was about 150 or 200 meters far from the dock. There was a swing on one tree at the side. So we walked down to the dock. There were some crabs and frogs underneath us where the ground was just merely covered with the salt-water. We walked farther down the dock to the very end and just looked out onto the horizon. It was early in the morning and it was just a peaceful sight. We sat down and talked for a bit and we had a visitor in the water as well! There was a jellyfish right near us in the water, surfacing a bit as to observe the 4 strange creatures on the wooden dock 5 or 6 feet above the water. It was there for a while and it reminded me of a little alien of some sort. There was a movie that I watched once. Some scientists were under the ocean, exploring things. And one of the divers lost contact with the main crew and that was when he discovered this whole place filled with jelly-fish. All of them were glowing and floating around in their own city, way deep in the ocean. It was amazing! Well, that's what I remembered when I saw that jelly-fish observing us.
So we came back to the house and Daniel showed us his "No girls allowed" room above the garage. We made fun of that! Haha. *wink* But the room has a fooseball table and just some other games. We played fooseball for a while. Daniel and Aye on one team and Greg and I on the other. We played 3 games and they beat us all three of them! Grr...! It reminded me of that time when we played back in UVA. Daniel and Aye versus Richard and I. That was a lot more fun! Cuz we were pretty much on the same level so it was much more competitive. It wasn't like that yesterday. The other team was just beating down on us. But anyway, it got too hot in that room cuz Aye and I were wearing long pants cuz it was a bit cool in the morning. So we changed our clothes and went out to the field and played frisbee for a while. The sun was getting pretty hot by that time. We got hungry after a while and went in to grab a bite. We came back out and played badmington. By the time we decided to stop, it was already around 12:30 so we decided to get the boat and go cruising on the waters and have a picnic somewhere. We got ready and went out on the boat.
The boat-ride was amazing! I had so much fun. It was our first time on a boat. We have been on a ship before but that was different. You can't even feel the speed on it. But this one was so cool. It's a 19-foot long boat. We were riding the waves and the water was splashing on us. Daniel was doing the whole driving/steering and he is good at it. Aye and I just sat on the seats and just enjoyed the ride. We rode it for a while. We weren't too sure of Daniel's plans so we asked him and found out that we were going to a beach. A favorite spot around there. He hadn't told us that before and we didn't have our bathing suits with us. But we had a change of clothes so we didn't mind getting wet when we got there. It was beautiful. The sand was white and soft under our feet but a bit hot when you get onto the middle part of the beach. We hopped around a bit until we got a place to sit down. We had our lunch and started walking along the beach. He told us that there used to be land acting like a bridge leading to the lighthouse in the distant. The water level just rose and covered up the sand. You could see the sand too through the water. So we waded into the water and walked right into it. The water wasn't very deep, just up to our knees. So we kept on walking to where some ducks and birds were sitting. The ground was at the surface of the water right there. So we walked and walked. The birds kept on moving back. At one point, the water was right above the thighs. We kept on moving. The water rose and fall and by the time we decided to head back, we were about 400 or 500 meters from the shore. And we were still walking! It was amazing. The water was only around knee-level by then. So we walked all the way back. And unfortunately, Greg got stung by a jellyfish and I think it passed by my ankle as well. I had this stinging feeling but I didn't have a big rash like Greg did. Daniel said that it would be gone in 30 minutes and that was a relief to hear. When we got to the shore, he asked us to put hot sand on it to make it feel better. And it kinda did, I guess. The pain was gone after a while. We stayed there for a while. It seemed like we were the only ones there. I think people left because they were afraid of a storm. There were some storm clouds but we were just loving the place. We sat and talked at a place where the water was just about 5 inches. It was wonderful to have so much nature around you to enjoy. Half of the sky was still blue and we just sat there. When the rainclouds kept on moving, we decided to head back. A bit sad that we had to leave such a wonderful place. But on the way back, I asked Daniel to teach me how to drive the boat. I wanted to try it. So he taught me the laws of the waters and what to look out for. So I'm gonna put a bit of that in here so that I won't forget later. Watch out for crabpots (sp?), steer around them. For oncoming ships: if they are on the right of you, you yield to them. If they are on the left, they yield to you. The red marker is on your right, when you're coming in and on the left, when you're going out of the channel. Opposite for the green - on the left when you're coming in and on you right when you're going out. Yay, I remember. So I drove a bit and Aye drove too. It was so cool. It started to rain a bit as well but that was fine. We were loving it! And if you're standing up, it's so much more fun than sitting down when you're riding the waves. When you're sitting, the ride is pretty rough but it's not when you're up.
So we got back to the house. We changed into our swimwear and a shirt on and headed back out. We went to the other direction as before. This time, Greg drove a bit and then Daniel knew I wanted to drive so he let me. I drove the whole way to the end of the river and back. It was so much fun! I was changing speed too. I was going at 45 mph and Daniel said I could do whatever I wanted so of course, hehehe...I was turning the steering wheel and just riding the waves and just making the water splash us. It was fantastic!!! I bet I was beaming with joy! I drove for like 30 minutes or maybe even more. And I gotta tell you, it's so much easier than driving a car. There isn't that much traffic and you can see them in the distant so it wasn't bad at all. I was just having so much fun! :D
We got back to the house and while Daniel and Greg put the boat back in place, Aye and I cleaned up everything else. We went for a swim in the pool afterwards. The whole day, we were drenched in seawater and it was nice to be in freshwater again. We were just having fun with the noodles as well. Poking and hitting each other with them. We had to get out after a while cuz it was already 6 o'clock and we were supposed to be heading back around 7. So we washed up and left. Daniel took us to this seafood restaurant that he likes right outside Mathews but unfortunatly, they were only accepting reservations. So we drove back into town and went to another restaurant. We ate and by the time we were done, it was already after 8. We got into the car and drove back listening to tapes and goofing around. That was mostly done by Daniel and Greg. Aye and I were in the backseat, just looking out of the window. A bit tired from the day's events and hadn't got much sleep the night before or during the week so we were pretty quiet but it was funny to see them goof around, making jokes. We talked a bit as well and played some games. It was fun. Haha...and one of the tapes had Daniel and his brother, Charlie, talking into the tape. Daniel was only 12 and his brother was about 14/15. And it was hilarious!!! Greg told a crazy story as well and that was...hmm...well, interesting! Haha...:P We got back around 11pm and by that time, I was ready for bed. Hehe. :D But the whole day was just amazing and so much fun. I had such a great time. I would love to do that again. Well, this entry has been long. I'll talk some more later. Yeah, you know me. Miss Talkative! LOL. But see y'all later. *wink*

It's funny how life can take new meaning
When you came and changed what I believed in
The world on the outside's trying to pull me in
But they can't touch me
Cause I got you...

And it hits me when I reach for you
That I'm afraid you won't be there
Maybe I am in too deep
But I don't care... ~ Nick Carter "I Got You" -- this song is amazing!!! I was just singing this song the whole day yesterday on the beach and it's a great song to sing on a beach sitting in the shallow water on the sand. The music video was shot on a beach and on a sailboat so I guess that's why I kept on singing this song all day long. But I love it so much!
