Fireman’s Lift Requirements (01/04/1996)

Status

 

2.1 (i)

l         Full travel time (from door completely closed to start to open < 1 min)

 

 

2.1 (ii)

l         Indication of all calls registered on the car control panel

 

 

2.2 (i)

l         Lift door (automatic power operated horizontally sliding doors)

 

 

2.2 (ii)

l         Failure of landing call controls (not affect fireman’s operation)

 

 

2.2 (iii)

l         Sensitive door re-opening device

1.         Light, flame, heat or smoke sensitive type (inoperative)

2.         Not light, flame, heat or smoke sensitive type (operative)

 

 

2.3 (i)

l         Provision of Fireman’s Switch (消防掣) with indication (at designated floor)

 

 

2.3 (ii)

l         All fireman’s lifts in a common lift shaft (with one Fireman’s Switch only)

 

 

2.3 (iii)

l         Identification of Fireman’s Switch (red & white diagonal stripped backing as shown in diagram in Annex I)

 

 

2.4 (i)

l         Power supply (exclusive & independent of any other sub-main circuit)

 

 

2.4 (ii)

l         Secondary power supply (independent of primary power supply)

 

 

2.4 (iii)

l         Secondary power supply (emergency generator or another sub-station or supply from live side of the building main isolator)

 

 

2.4 (iv)

l         Label at fireman’s lift power supply isolator (warning that the equipment may remain alive even after primary power supply has been isolated)

 

 

2.5 (i)

l         3 simple steps to operate the fireman’s lift :-

a.          Press the desired floor button continuously until lift doors are fully closed; or press the ‘door close’ button continuously to close lift door & register call by pressing the desired floor button

b.          If another floor is desired, press floor button of that floor

c.          On arrival at the desired floor, press ‘door open’ button continuously until lift doors are fully open

 

 

2.5 (ii)

l         Fireman’s lift operation (as flow chart F1 in Annex II)

 

 

2.5 (iii)

l         Reset of Fireman’s Switch (remain under fireman’s lift mode until return to designated floor & opens its doors fully)

(When the lift returns to designated floor, door shall be kept closed unless ‘door open’ button is pressed continuously until door fully open)

 

 

2.5 (iv)

 

 

 

 

 

Cir.15/99

l         All calls prior to the power supply interruption or changeover shall be automatically cancelled

l         After power interruption

a.          Door not fully closed (door opened automatically)

b.          Door fully closed (resume fireman’s lift mode; or return designated floor or nearest landing below & resume fireman’s lift mode)

(When the lift returns to designated floor, door shall be kept closed unless ‘door open’ button is pressed continuously until door fully open)

 

 

2.6

l         Provision of car position indicator (on designated floor landing)
