According to Norse Mythology i learned from a game called Valkyrie Profile(only on PS1). Odin , Lord of the gods, have reawaken their Valkyrie (named Lenneth Valkyrie in the game) to choose souls worthy to be Einherjiar of the gods because Ragnarok "The Twilight of the gods" is near and they have to prepare for it. Because during Ragnarok Asgard(land if the gods), Midgard(human realm), and Nifelheim(demon's realm) will finally end their war.
THE GAME... Valkyrie Profile
This is MY summary of the game... During Lenneth's search for human souls she comes upon a Wizard named Lezard Valeth who has an eye for the Valkyrie. Valkyrie "raided" Lezard's tower because of "illegal" things happening in the said tower. So in the confrontation where Lezard has been using ancient spells said to be sacred, Valkyrie has defeated Lezard but Lezard used a teleportation spell to escape and left Lenneth with a thought. "You a god!!!". It angered Lenneth so much that she has been destroying everything in the tower until she discovered homonculi(half human, half elf specie with demonic genes) in a hidden chamber and it resembled her...
After some time she comes upon a human soul she fells in love with... a boy named Lucian who thought Lenneth was his dead lover. They fell in love with each other but Lenneth has to send Lucian up to Valhalla(the palace of dead warriors). But up in Valhalla something happened, there was a time Lucian agreed to Loki(a half god, half demon) to use the water crystal to talk to Lenneth but Lucian has to use the dragon orb with it so they got it but during the conversation Lenneth scolded Lucian that the water crystal is a valuable artifact solely for the gods. So it left Lucian with a broken heart but it turned out Loki used him to get the dragon orb and now that Loki has the orb he is most powerful and killed Lucian in a battle.
After Lenneth had learned Lucian died she went to the meadow Lucian told about in their water crystal conversation where Lucian was scolded for using the crystal to set Lenneth to a little "treasure hunting". She learns that the meadow is actually the grave of Lucian's lover Platina. After finding Platina's earring the memory seal that was casted upon her finally breaks and she learns that she IS Platina. But the seals breakage has a backup plan. Freya(Queen of the gods... the girl focused at at the index of this site) has made a backup plan in case the seal breaks. So at the meadow a Valkyrie of the past has appeared, Hirst a Dark Valkyrie has been released to destroy Lenneth and take her body and does...
Then Mystina, a sorceress betrayed and killed by Lezard, comes into the picture and stores Lenneth's soul particles into a crystal... Then comes Lezard to help his "crush" and together with Armgrim a powerful soldier who was the first einherjiar in the game. They stored Lenneth in a homonculi then set out to get her body. They saw Hirst at Brahms Castle( a castle which appears once a month) ruled by Brahms, one of Valkyrie's "sister". They saw Brahms arguing with Hirst then finally Mystina, Lezard, and Armgrim together with Brahms has decided to defeat Hirst for Lenneth. After defeating Hirst they got Valkyrie's body and combined it with the Homonculi. But Lenneth was now very angry at the gods...
Back in Asgard Loki has been the destroying the place and managed to defeat Odin. Lenneth now went to Asgard and learned that Odin was himself the lord of the gods because he was a half elf with the power to grow inherited from human parents he ruled Asgard. Saw that Freya weeping over Odin Lenneth told her why can't you do that to humans also... angered with the death of Lucian she confronts Loki but turned out he is too powerful for her...
Suddenly she hears the cries of the dead being a Valkyrie she has been empowered with this, and feels so much emotion that her power was increased now that she has the power of a half-elf(due to combinig to a homonculi) she created everything that Loki destroyed. Loki was shocked seeing Lenneth with the power of creation and saw her created her own weapon the Glance Reviver and defeated Loki and his dragon orb... After a sorrowful moment she realized she has reunited herself with Lucian.
