All the stuff I've ever posted in the news section since this site opened on March 7. 2000 can be found here in the "old news archive". 01.23.02: Sorry for not updating the page for so long, but not much is going on with the band right now. Mike is busy writing new songs and as soon as Jason returns from tour with the UK Subs, the Enemies will probably start demoing for a new record. Most likely a full length album due sometime this summer. In related news, Pitch Black signed to Revelation Records and will put out a full length in the near future. Check out their website Here. 11.06.01: The Enemies have just been added to the Beast Fest bill. The show will take place at 924 Gilman Street on December 2 at 5pm, so show up early. Also on the bill are Black Cat Music, The Fleshies and Subtonix. Since Jason is still on tour with the UK Subs, Scott from Cruevo will fill in on drums for this one show. 10.21.01: The official Enemies website is now up at www.enemies.net so check it out. It's really fucking rad. You should check out their news section for an exciting update. Sounds like we don't have to wait long for a new Enemies album. Cool. And Mike just played bass on the new Common Rider demos, so there's something so check out too. But go to the site and read a lot more about all of this. 10.03.01: Jason is still on tour with the UK Subs, so the Enemies have cancelled their gig at Gilman Street on October 5. The show with The Dickies and The Frustrators was awesome. All the bands rocked and I'm hoping to add some pictures from the show in the near future. Also, the official Enemies website at enemies.net should be up shortly, so be sure to check that out. The Lookout Freakout Episode 2 compilation will be out on October 23. The CD featues the song Down There by the Enemies and songs by 21 other Lookout bands. Here's a scan of the cover: 08.27.01: The Enemies song Down There will be on the upcoming Lookout Freakout Episode 2 compilation due for release on October 23. The compilation will also feature American Steel, Pitch Black, Common Rider and The Alkaline Trio among others. Also, Jason has been hired to play drums for UK Subs on their upcoming tour, so be sure to check that out. I also updated the Sounds section. I added a couple of MP3's and got rid of the ones that weren't working. 08.21.01: Pictures from the Chico show and more will be up soon. For now, check out the Tour Dates section, since i added a couple of new dates. And don't forget to go see The Enemies this friday at Bottom Of The Hill with American Steel and The Cost. In related news, Dave Ed's other band, Neurosis, just put out a new album on Relapse Records called A Sun That Never Sets, so be sure to pick that up. It's amazing. 08.02.01: The Enemies will be playing a show on September 22 at The Minnow in Alameda with punk rock legends The Dickies and local Bay Area bands, The Frustrators and The Eddie Hasskells. For more info, Click Here ! This is one show you do not wanna miss, so get your tickets now ! Also, the Count Blood article has been removed from this site on request of the author. 06.14.01: The release party at Gilman was a huge success and more than 300 people turned up. If you weren't there you missed out big time. Also, last week the East Bay Express printed an article about the current East Bay scene and the new Enemies/Pitch Black split. Near the end it said "...And the Enemies... ooo, they rock. That's not even a value judgment, just an observation." Well, amen. To read the entire article Click Here. Also check out the flyer for the last Enemies show at Kimo's Here. 06.01.01: The Enemies will be playing a show on Sunday, June 10th at Kimo's in San Francisco. Among others they're playing with Pitch Black, so it's gonna be one hell of a show. But remember, it's 21+... 05.22.01: The new Enemies/Pitch Black split CD is now out on Lookout Records ! There's no excuse for not picking it up. It's available at any decent music store, or you can order directly from Lookout Records. I've added my review of the CD and updated the discography page as well as the sound page and more stuff regarding the new album will be added shortly. 05.07.01: Just thought I'd let you know that the Enemies will be playing on Saturday, May 19th at Burnt Ramen Studios in Richmond, CA. Also on the bill is the awesome Crash And Burn (formerly Shoot The Hostages) from Boston. They have a 7-song cd out on Rodent Popsicle Records that you should definately check out. 03.31.01: The new Enemies/Pitch Black split cd will be released by Lookout! Records. The CD contains 12 songs, 6 by each band, and will be out on May 22. Click Here to listen to the song 151 by the Enemies from the new album. And go to Lookout! Records for info and tracklist. I've updated several of the subpages so take a look around. More to come... 01.25.01: Since the last update the band has undergone some pretty crucial changes. Long time bassist Rick Jacobus quit the band after becoming a father late last year and at the moment Dave Edwardson (of Neurosis fame) is taking his place. However, this seems to be just a temporary solution as Dave has enough on his plate already. Furthermore the band recorded a long-awaited 5 song demo in December. The songs are amazing and the band is set to record the final cuts this weekend. Song titles for the upcoming recording session are: Seize The Day, Down There, Open Trenches, 151 and Just One Thing. Both Open Trenches and Seize The Day have been aired at the band's recent shows. The record looks set to be a split 10" with Oakland newcomers, Pitch Black. A release date hasn't been set yet, but I'll keep you posted. 10.08.00: If any of you guys have seen the brand new Green Day video, Minority, you might have noticed the sticker on Billie Joe Armstrong's acoustic guitar. Yes, ladies and gentleman, it's an Enemies sticker. Furthermore, when Green Day played a show on Farm Club a few weeks ago, bassist Mike Dirnt was wearing an Enemies t-shirt. Nice to know that the guys have good taste in music... And they won't have to wait long for a new record as the Enemies look set to release a split 10" with Pitch Black soon. A guess could be that the record will be out around February, but no date has been set yet. 08.27.00: I've added a shitload of pictures to the picture archive. Some band shots and pictures from their gig at The Red Lobster. I'm gonna add some flyers and other shit sometime in the near future. In other news, rumours suggest that the Enemies might release a split 7" with fellow local Oakland outfit Pitch Black. If it's true, it's gonna be one hell of a record, cuz Pitch Black is an awesome band and the new Enemies material will blow you away, trust me ! 08.01.00: On my stay in the bay area I was fortunate enough to hear some brand new Enemies songs. One is called Open Trenches and they opened both shows I saw with that song, and it rocks! The other song is the best song I've heard for a long time. It doesn't really have a name yet, but the working title is Rock Ballad (which I dig!) and the song is truly amazing. I simply can't wait to hear it again, it's so good. OK, I've added a couple more pictures from the Gilman show and then... Pictures from Enemies band practice !!! I was there and it was AWESOME, so I hope you guys enjoy the pictures. I've only added four, but more to come. And still to come as well, pictures from the Red Lobster gig (which was an amazing, yet weird show, trust me) and some killer band photos. So the picture archive is (and will be) expanding rapidly... 07.30.00: Sadly I'm back from my trip to the East Bay, wish I could have stayed there forever. But it does mean I'll be updating a lot, cuz I have tons of Enemies stuff to add to the site. I saw the band "in concert" twice on my stay and they were fucking awesome! Especially their show on July 22nd at Gilman Street with American Steel, Pitch Black, I-Farm and The Thumbs. The show was amazing. Future updates will include pictures from both shows and from Enemies band practice (!!!), show reviews, band photos, flyers, sound clips and much more. I am however busy with work (I'm in deep debt after my trip, so I'm doomed to wash dishes for a loooong time) so updates will come along gradually. For now, check out some amazing pictures from the band's show at Gilman Street last Saturday. Click Here 06.19.00: Finally, the sound archive has expanded. I sat down last night and uploaded a bunch of MP3's for your listening pleasure! There's a neat track called Pollution from the Enemies/Second Hand Spit EP. Then there's an MP3 of the song that helped name this site, In Decay, from their debut full-length and a rad non-album track called Spare Change. The latter was recorded at one of the band's many live performances. So go check it out. I'll try to get the tour dates section more up to date as soon as I return from my three week stay in Oakland, CA, starting on June 26. I have to bail... 06.16.00: The non album track, Break the Skin, is absolutely amazing and there's no excuse for not picking it up. I've added the Adeline Records compilation to the discography as well as put up the Enemies band layout from the booklet. Click Here to see it. I'm working on some live clips for the sound archive and maybe bits from the split EP as well. I also added a new live show to the tour dates and as far as I've heard, the band has cancelled their show at Gilman Street on June 30. But I'm not sure. 05.29.00: I finally pulled myself together and typed in all the lyics for the Enemies self titled full length. So check them out. I don't know when I'll add the lyrics for the EP, but I promsie to do it at a later date. I'll also add the lyrics for the non-album track Break The Skin when I have them in hand. 05.27.00: The Enemies appeared on the radio station KFUM (92.3FM) last week, playing a bunch of songs off of their self-titled album. The show also contained an interview with frontman Mike Pelino. I hope to catch the Enemies live when they play Gilman on June 30. I'll be sure to add some pictures from the show if it goes ahead as planned. The Adeline Records compilation was released last week so check out Break The Skin by Enemies. You can purchase the compilation at the Adeline site. 05.14.00: I have made some extremely harrowing updates to the site (ehm). I've added a review, by me, of the band's debut split EP, Conquered. So check that out. I also corrected some blemishes around the site and added an "archived news" section so you'll always be able to locate past updates and news. I'm aware that the lyrics links in the discography section are broken. That's simply because the lyrics haven't been added yet. But I hope to add them soon. 05.11.00: Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but my computer broke down and I just got it back. Man, do I have news. Turned out the Enemies' van broke down during their US Tour so they had to cancel the majority of the shows. Tough luck. Right now they're playing shows in their hometown of Oakland. So check out the tour dates section. The long awaited Adeline Records compilation will finally be out on May 30th and it features an unreleased song by Enemies called Break the Skin. The band has also submitted the song In Decay for the upcoming Underground Punk Band Of the Week cd. No release date has been set for that compilation as of now. I have made some minor changes around the site, most notably added an "about me" section, and I even lashed out and added a couple of pictures of myself. Horrifying indeed. 04.03.00: The Enemies have been asked to submit a song for an upcoming Underground Punk Band Of The Week compilation cd. I have no idea if they're gonna do it though. Also, I have added the new 2-dollar sampler CD from New Disorder Records to the discography. As you guys might know, the cd features Black Heart Lies by Enemies. The band kicked off their US tour over the weekend, so check out the tour dates! They'll probably be heading your way soon! 03.25.00: I have some awesome news. Enemies have just been voted for "Underground Punk Band Of the Week" by the official Green Day website at www.greenday.net ! That's so cool ! So go to the page and tell Broc Johnson (the webmaster) that he has good taste in music. This is so great, cuz this is no more than this band deserves. I'm excited that a lot of different people are beginning to acknowledge the band. Go check the Tour Dates section, catch the band live and you will know why they won that voting. Thanks a lot to 409 Online for their support. 03.16.00: I just put up all the dates for the Enemies' spring US Tour in April. So go check them out now in the Tour Dates section and be sure to attend as many shows as possible. And please fell free to send me your show review and I'll put it up on the site. If you have the opportunity to tape any of the shows, I'd really appreciate if you would get in touch. In other band news I think it's worth mentioning, that the Enemies have recorded a track called "Break The Skin" for the upcoming Adeline Records compilation due out in May. Something to look forward to. 03.14.00: I finally got around to add some MP3's to the sound archive. So check them out. They are good quality ones and should give you an idea of how great this band is. If you have any Enemies related soundfiles or are able to make any, please get in touch. Also, if anyone out there can help me encode cassette tapes to MP3-files, get in touch, and hopefully we will be able to work something out. 03.09.00: I've added some very cool artwork, by my friend Morten, in the picture section. I've also updated some links and made a scan of a ticket I have from one of their gigs. On the 7th of february, the Enemies played a gig at 924 Gilman Street as part of the Geek Fest. They played on the floor, and sources say it was a kick ass show... as always. I'll try to have some tour dates up as soon as possible. And maybe some more artwork. 03.07.00: Today is the opening day for this, the world's very first unofficial Enemies webpage. I know it's not very comprehensive yet, but I hope to improve the site gradually, so if you have any contributions, please get in touch. Everything is appreciated. I hope this page will be helpful for people looking for information about the Enemies, as well as spreading the word about the band. I will also try to keep you updated as far as news and tour dates go. I have some news for you already. Enemies wil be appearing on an upcoming Adeline Records compilation along side bands such as Pinhead Gunpowder, Frustrators, Criminals and One Man Army. The record is due out in May. Oh yes, I really need help to spread the word about the page, so please link me and tell all your friends to check out the page... and ehmmm, buy the Enemies' records, cuz they rock... Signing off, In Decay...
