At this time I was living on a farm with my brother and his girlfriend, Kathy and their 3 children, it was a duplex, I lived on the top and they lived on the bottom.

I had lived and worked in Crystal Beach in the summer of 1988 so I already had some friends that lived in town. So when I started to visit my ex-boyfriend's family who had moved down there the previous summer I would visit with both of them.

                 

Charlotte and Bob the ex's family had a very abusive and stormy 12 year relationship, to say the least. When I would go there they seemed to fight less often so I tried to go a often as possible, at least twice a month.

I went down at the end of October for Halloween, at that time Charlotte confided in me that she wanted out of the relationship and asked if I would help her. I had just come out of the same type of relationship, so of course I gladly said "yes".
