British/Canadian and American Measure Conversions
Most of my recipes use British or Continental measures (pounds & ounces or grammes) which might be unfamiliar, but I found this conversion table in a cookery book, so you should be able to figure out the differences.
Note that lb is the abbreviation for pound, and oz for ounces, g for grammes. Fl oz means fluid ounces.

| 1/2 oz butter | 1 level tablespoon, levelled off |
| 1 oz golden syrup/treacle | 1 level tablespoon |
| 1 oz jam or jelly | 1 level tablespoon |
| 1 1/2 pints | 3 3/4 American cups |
| 1 pint | 2 1/2 American cups |
| 1/2 pint | 1 1/4 American cups |
| 1/4 pint | 3/8 American cup |
1 ounce is approximately 30 grammes
2 lb 30oz is 1 kilogramme
1 3/4 English pints is 1 litre
