Synopsis: In a complete departure from the usual violent content of a Kitano movie, this heartwarming film tells the tale of Kikujiro, a small-time crook, forced by his wife to be the guardian of a shy, sensitive boy as he travels accross the country to be reunited with his mother whom he has not seen since he was a baby. As the journey progresses, Kikujiro realises he has more in common with the boy than he first thought and the two of them become friends. When the meeting with the child's mother doesn't go as planned, Kikujiro decides to cheer him up and give him a summer to remember. |
