The CIPA General Assembly was held in Florence, Italy on November 20, 2001. There were 24 countries present: Argentina,

Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, Japan,

Mexico, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, Uruguay and the United States. Of these

24 countries, 22 were voting as Israel and South Africa could not vote due to non-participation at a World Championship

during the last two years.

The 2002 World Championships will be held in Wuppertal, Germany, on September 22 to October 5.

2002 World Junior & Senior Dance Requirements:

Junior World Dances:

14 Step (4 sequences - set pattern

Imperial Tango (4 sequences - set pattern)

Senior World Dances: Starlight Waltz (2 sequences - set pattern)

Iceland Tango (2 sequences - set pattern

The OSP for both the Junior and Senior will be the Jive.

3.37.02 On a skating surface less than 50 x 25 meters, it is permissible to cross the tracing slightly (not more than 2 meters)

one time per sequence and it is permissible to cross the long axis slightly (not more than 2 meters) one time per sequence.

Music for compulsory dances:

Two CD's are available, one for Junior and one for Senior, which have all the dances for these categories from the year 1999-

RULES & REGULATIONS FOR OSP JIVE:

The OSP shall consist of two repetitive sequences, total time of which shall be no less than 1.50 (one minute, fifty seconds)

and no longer that 2.40 (two minutes, forty seconds). The timing will begin with the first movement and end with the last

movement -

this includes the closing steps of the OSP

.

The rules and regulation for OSP must be strictly observed as printed in CIPA Special Regulations and Sports Rules SR3.37

with the following exceptions for Jive 3.37.10:

Jive falls within the general term of "Swing" music and movements as seen in Boogie Woogie, Jitterbug, Rock'n'Roll and Twist

can be used.

All steps, turns, rotations and positions are permitted provided that they are appropriate to the designated rhythm and the

music chosen, and provided that the unison of the couple is maintained throughout. Deep edges and intricate footwork,

displaying skills, difficulty and originality must be included and performed by both partners rather than posing and skating on

two feet.

Range of Tempo

: Not restricted, 4/4 time

Stops

: Two complete stops per circuit are permitted. Duration of the stop is a maximum of 12 (twelve) beats of music.

Little Hops or Jumps

: The lifting of the skating foot a small distance off the floor is allowed to express the character of the

dance-no more than twice per sequence (and no more than five each time making a

maximum

total of 10 per sequence).

Use of Toe Stops

: The toe stop can be used in any of the above movements, but the

maximum

number per sequence is 10

(ten). There is no minimum number. The penalty for more than the maximum of 10 steps on the toe stop will be .1 for each one.

Special Notes

:

The OSP can be started at any place on the floor.

Vocal music for OSP can be used.

3.

A certificate, obtained from a professional musician authenticating the music, must be handed to the referee before

the first training day.

FREE SKATING AND PAIRS

SENIOR

2.15 minutes +/- 5 seconds

4 minutes +/- 10 seconds

General 2002

:

All footwork step sequences must be executed according to the character of the music using advanced footwork. Each step of

the footwork must be progressive. No retrogression is permitted. Short stops in accordance with the music are permitted. NO

RECOGNIZED JUMPS WITH AN APPARENT TAKEOFF ARE ALLOWED IN ANY

STEP SEQUENCE.

2002 - Serpentine Footwork Step Sequence "A" or "B".

Starting at any end of the skating floor and progress in at least two (2) bold curves or

not less than one-half (1/2) of the width of the skating floor and ends at the opposite

end of the skating floor using advanced footwork.

IN-LINE FREE SKATING

CIPA will be holding the first In-Line Artistic Championship in 2002 for free skating for men and women. The championship will

be for skaters in free skating who are at least 12 years of age or over as of January 1, 2002 (the year of the championship).

Skaters have the option of participating in an in-line event and a Junior or Senior Free Skating event in the same Championship.

The skates to be used should be three- or four-wheel in-line indoor skates with a toe stop on the front only.

Technical Details:

Short Program: 2:15 minutes plus or minus 5 seconds set elements

Long Program 3:30 minutes plus or minus 10 seconds

Set Elements for Met and Women In-Line Events:

1.

Single axel only.

2.

Toe assisted jump - single or double.

3.

Combination of jumps, minimum three (3) jumps, maximum five (5) jumps, to include at least one jump with two (2)

revolutions.

(No more than two (2) revolutions.)

4.

Spins - select from the following (entry & exit optional):

Camel (any edge)

Layover Camel (any edge)

Sit Spin (any edge)

5.

Spin Combination - two (2 or three (3) positions with or without change of foot. At least three (3) revolutions in each

position.

A sit spin must be included in the combination

. Entry and exit optional.

6.

One footwork sequence - Advanced footwork to comply with the prescribed footwork regulations.

NO TRIPLE JUMPS TO BE INCLUDED IN ANY ELEMENT.

ONLY THE LISTED SET ELEMENTS ABOVE CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE SHORT PROGRAM - THIS MEANS NO EXTRA ELEMENTS.

There are NO restrictions on elements in the Long Program.

All other CIPA Rules regarding Free Skating will apply.

Serpentine Footwork Step Sequence "A" or "B" for year 2002 and 2005

Starting at any end of the skating floor and progress in at least two (2) bold

the opposite end of the skating floor using advanced footwork.

SHOW CHAMPIONSHIP

Technical regulations:

1.

Duration: Minimum 4 minutes, maximum 5 minutes +/- 10 seconds. Time starts with the first movement.

2.

Participants: Maximum one (1) group per nation affiliated to FIRS. Each group must be composed with a minimum of

16 skaters. All entries must be made through the National Federation.

3.

Elements: Free Skating and Pairs Skating is allowed. However, skating will be assessed depending on the performance

of the whole group.

4.

Rules for Show Skating:

a.

Movements or steps performed in stationary positions are allowed. However, programs with excessive stationary

movements will be given less credit. Choreography must commence within 10 seconds after the music has

started.

b.

The main performance of a show group must be "Show", not "Precision". If there are Precision elements, they

must be performed in the character of a show.

c.

Participants not on roller skates shall not be allowed.

d.

There shall be no restrictions on the choice of music, but skating must be in tune with the music chosen.

e.

All theatre decorations are not allowed; only accessories (props) directly in harmony with the program.

f.

Fog machines and personal spotlights are not allowed.

5.

Costume rules for show competitions:

In all show competitive roller skating events (including official training), the costumes for both women and men should

be in character with the music, but should not be so as to cause embarrassment to the skaters, judges or spectators.

Women's costumes must be constructed so that it completely covers the tights (pants), hips and posterior. French-cut

leotards are strictly prohibited, i.e., leotards which are cut higher than the hip bone.

PRECISION SKATING

There are two alterations to the rules:

1.

The time will be 5 minutes +/- 10 seconds.

2.

Stationary (stopping or standing) positions during the performance are not allowed.
