Stats

There are four stats in the game.

Brains- how smart you are.

Brownie Points

You have 20 to start. They have several uses.
  1. Extra Dice: Generally, in the game, you roll a number of d6 equal to your stat total, or skill total. You can spend Brownie points to roll extra dice- no limit to the number.
  2. Advancement: You can spend 30 to increase a stat (and its accompanying skill) by 1 point.
  3. General measure of luck. If you have lots of brownie points, youre luckier than guys who have few.
  4. Damage reduction. You spend brownie points to negate or lower damage done to yourself, as well as to simulate the effects of damage.
If you run out of Brownie points and need more, you can lower a stat (and its accompanying skill) by 1 for 20 more brownie points.

Personal Goals

Everybody needs a motivation. If you succeed in accomplishing personal goals, you get extra brownie points at the end of the adventure. Some samples
  1. Wealth- Like Winston, youll believe anything, as long as it pays enough.
  2. Soulless Science- like Egon, you want to expand the boundaries of science.
  3. Sex- like Venkman, you want to well, you know.
  4. Saving Humanity- like Batman, you want to help people.
  5. Fame- like anyone on the Jerry Springer show, you want to be famous.
  6. Have a Tax Shelter Named After You- Louis Tully would like this one.
  7. Acquisition of Lost treasures- think Indiana Jones.

Equipment

You start with three items of equipment. More can be purchased later when your Ghostbuster franchise earns a bit of cash from clients.

Some sample items to choose from

Alpine Gear- good for climbing things. Comes with lederhosen.
Aura Video Analyzer- determines subjects emotional state, self-image, and/or if subject is possessed. It was used on Louis Tully in the first mover to determine he was possessed.
Beach Kit- everything needed to relax after a hard day of ghostbusting.
Bullhorn- talk REAL LOUD.
Cellular Phone- generally installed in the Ecto-1.
Ecto-1: the car!
Ecto-Visors- see in the dark, and look dumb in elevators. Ray used `em.
Geiger Counter- you know
Ghost Trap- holds one ghost per trap
Infrared Camera- take pictures of ghosts in the dark
Parachute- you know.
PKE Meter- measures psychokinetic energy. If ghosts are nearby, arns go up. Egon used it in the movie.
Protection Grid- where you store ghosts after you catch them in traps. Dont shut it off, even if the EPA tells you to do so.
Proton Pack- Two settings: attack and containment. Containment holds a weakened ghost so you can put it in a trap. Attack weakens ghosts, and destroys hotels if you arent careful.
Scuba Gear- you know
Secret Tome of Occult Lore (Five sample tomes- Roylances `Guide to Secret Societies and Sects, Tobins `Spirit Guide, Spatess `Spates Catalogue of Nameless Horrors and What to Do About Them, Freddes `The Big Book of Occult Lore, and finally Stafford, Petersen, & Williss `Ghostbusters Handbook.) : very useful for looking up things like Gozer the Gozarian, Zuul, etc.
Video Camcorder- record your own TV commercials. `Were ready to believe you!
Walkie-Talkie: a wonder to have if you split up. Hope someone else takes one too...

Other stuff...
There IS another stat- Power, which determines psychic powers, etc. You cannot start with it, but you may develop it in play.

Any questions?
