OBJECTIVE

I am looking for business partners (any interesting business) and short-durations jobs which require travel within the U.P. of Michigan, Northern Wisconsin, Lower Michigan and Western Minnesota.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

My record of accomplishments is expansive.  From working in the environmental industry as analyst, manager and consultant to semi-retirement fun as a reseller of antiques, books, etc., I've learned a lot about many things, and how to do it right!

Project Management... I've managed lab projects for base closures, engineering firms, industry, etc.  I've performed a number of UST, petroleum spill and organics-related site investigations, and have done everything from sampling to testing to managing and training regulatory personnel, clients and sub-contractors.  I also have a history of developing relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, suppliers, etc.

Technically Speaking... I've managed departments which provide services in various methodologies and have managed lab automation and development initiatives.  I have also purchased, maintained and repaired various instrumentation and developed methods for fixed and field analytical instrumentation.

Communications... I have always enjoyed the personal relations developed with clients, personnel and regulators.  I also excel in technical writing and training materials development. I have good phone skills and training capabilities.

Resale/Antique Operations ... Dealing with a little different customer base requires a little different approach and skill-set.  Best lessons learned have been in the art of selling.

Miscellaneous...

I am very cost conscious, and have lowered operating costs while
increasing productivity during the tight economic times which the
industry has been going through.  I also have been a resource to my employers and clients when it comes to fulfilling unexpected needs.

EXPERIENCE

Environmental Industry Service. Amasa MI: Owner (10/2002 - 2004)

Developed business and strategic plans, performed marketing & sales, and market research.  Negotiated pricing with suppliers, clients, etc.  Responsibilities and accomplishments include;

researching methods and the resources needed to develop them.
researching and learning about LIMS, CDS and QA/QC software.
developing relationships with suppliers of goods and services.
building relationships with current and potential clients.

I've also researched methods and markets for;

a. CLP analytical methods, especially regarding organics.
b. microbiological sampling and testing.
c. water and air treatment systems.
d. indoor air sampling & testing (allergens, radon, mold, etc.)
e. fast cycle time for GC/GC-MS methods.
f. explosives analysis.
g. dioxins anlaysis.
h. mobile laboratory analysis.
i. chromatographic methods development and enhancement.
j. management systems such as six-sigma, stewardship, etc.

I also have expanded contact lists and developed business offerings based on lab, university, municipality, industry and engineering client needs.

Responsible for the following operations within this mid-size
environmental lab...

overall management of organics department, including QA, data evaluation, instrument repair and maintenance, timely turnaround time, method development, etc.
management of personnel, hiring and firing, etc.
LIMS development and upkeep.
primary overall responsibility was to be the facilitator between analysts, QA officer, project managers, reporting staff, lab manager,etc.
introduction to six-sigma concepts, which strive to enhance productivity by providing measures of performance and trouble areas.

White Water, Assoc., Amasa MI: Head Chemist (1992 - 2001)
Hourly Pay: 15.60/Hr with 1.5 overtime (estimate)

built organics section using ion-trap GC-MS and PID/ELCD/FID.
developed QA programs.
developed relationships with clients through exceptional service.

The position of lab manager was developed as the laboratory grew under
my leadership. Primary accomplishments included...
