January 2004

Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Ryan Linneman, I pledged back in Spring of 2003. Last semester I was senior guide last semester and now I am your VP of Alumni Relations.  Currently I am a Senior, graduating this summer with a degree in Marketing and International Business, and looking for a job. (resume) Feel free to pass it around.  Other senior brothers coming soon.

Please take a few moments to help us update our records, and serve all the brothers better.

The CSU on campus has begun renovations check out http://www.csu.mnsu.edu/csurenovation/pictures.html to see the sketches of the new design.  Looks very cool, but until completion students are eating in makeshift cafeterias in locations like the South Ballroom, and Memorial Library.

Congratulations to Michelle Liffrig getting married this past Saturday, September 25th. The reception was a blast and she appreciates all the support from the brothers who were able to make it there.

Shanna Todd has decided to spend the next two years studying business in Lugano, Switzerland.

Matt Marek,is serving in the US Army has been stationed in Ansbach, Germany and shortly will be serving in Iraq for the next 12 months, wish him luck.  I should be getting his address shortly if you would like to send care packages.

MSU's Homecoming 2004 is coming up shortly, we hope to see faces from the past showing up on October 9th to celebrate one year without any riots!

The recruiting process is over for this semester. Congratulations to the 13 new potential brothers that have just started the pledging process.

Be sure to check out the Alumni List, the date next to your name is the last time we updated your address. Bold means that we don't a valid address on file.  Please send me any new information, also you know any other Alumni's email address or mailing address let me know so we can update our records.  If you would like to contact fellow brother let me know, and I can try to help you out.

Josh Hackbarth got married last April to Maryanne (his girlfriend throughout college), and now resides in Connecticut working for 3M  as an “Engineered Adhesives Specialist” in the Industrial Business Market Group.

Matt Marek is now in Iraq. In Iraq, his duty will be a disbursing agent, which means that he is in charge of money.  Getting money to our local troops, paying commercial vendors, funding other pay agents, paying Iraqi's with the weapons for cash programs.  No mailing address yet, I'll keep you updated. Email: [email protected]

Robyn Albers, is a Mortgage Specialist with Wells Fargo in Minneapolis.

Christine A. Haberkorn says " I'm loving life in the Seattle area, and I'm getting married in July!"

Kristine Schwartz says "For those that do not know, I met my husband, Brian Schwartz, in Delta Sigma Pi. He was the President when I pledged and even though it was an unwritten rule that pledges cannot date brothers, we dated in secret and fell in love. We revealed our secret after my initiation. We now have been happily married 3 years April 21, 2004."

Ali Vick says "I have been promoted and I am now in a new department. We did get a Yellow Lab, last July, he is about 9 months old now and his name is Parker. Other than that not much is new. Amanda N., Shauna F., and I still get together every month for Dinner and chatting. We have talked many times about making it down for an event or a meeting, but three schedules are hard to coordinate. I am hoping to make it to initiation this coming semester and I think a golf outing sounds great! I love to golf!"

Sent to me from a friend: "Matt Marek is able to read all of your emails but he is not able to reply to them. He loves reading them and he says keep sending them. He said he was able to work on his tan a little today as it was about 95 degrees there and he had a little R&R time.

His Address: Mathew Marek
  D DET 106 FIN 2nd BCT 25 I.D.
  APO, AE 09347-9998

He had no immediate requests for anything special but I know he could always use some good CDs to rock out. He also wanted me to remind you that we cannot send him any pork products, alcohol, or pornography. (Even though a beer would probably really hit the spot in that heat!)"

Matt Marek excerpt: Email: [email protected]
I just wanted to let you all know that I made it to Kirkuk safely. The trip was more eventful that I would have hoped, but the bottom line is we made it here with only minor injuries. I'll tell you all some stories later on about the journey up here.

Anyway, the weather is pretty warm. We've already experienced some days where it has gotten up to 95 degrees! Not bad for March. I just can't wait until May through August comes around.

The place where I'm sleeping is kind of like a nice fishing house. its small, but we can get 4 people in it. The important thing is, it has an air conditioner!!! We also have electrical outlets too so that is really awesome!

I'm going to let you all go, but it was nice hearing from all of you who wrote! Please keep writing and I'll give you a mailing address shortly.

Once again sorry that I'm not sending out personal emails, but I just don't have the time for those right now. I'll do my best to write you all, but please keep emailing me, I enjoy your emails.
