EHW Match of the Month - February 2004
Main Event
Ironman Match – Title vs. Title
Assasin vs. K-Bomb
Ladies and gentlemen, this next contest is the Oblivion main event!! This match is an Ironman match, where two championships will be on the line! Now, for the competitors. Making his way to the ring first, the current EHW European champion, K-BOMB!! And his opponent, the reigning EHW Intercontinental champion, ASSASIN!!
JR: And there they go! The most anticipated match in recent EHW history starts off with... a double clothesline?! Both of these men came straight out of the box and clubbed each other with vicious clotheslines! Both men starting to stir already, and they both reach their feet at nearly the same time. Assasin dives at K-Bomb, hitting him in the shoulders with a strong forearm shot. K-Bomb leans on the ropes for balance, and returns the favor by delivering a hard right hand to the face of Assasin! Assasin falls backwards onto the ropes, but springs back off of them and hits a diving clothesline onto K-Bomb! K-Bomb is down, and Assasin takes full advantage by immediately stomping and working on the knee of K-Bomb. Assasin, a man possessed, stomping away on K-Bomb's knee like an animal who smells blood. K-Bomb reaches up and in a very smart move of desperation, tosses Assasin out of the ring through the top and middle ropes. Assasin spills to the outside and lands on all fours, as K-Bomb is using the ropes to make his way up to his feet. BH: K-Bomb wasn't on the ground for too long, but it looks like Assasin really took a toll on K-Bomb's knee. K-Bomb is now up and hobbling around as Assasin circles the ring on the outside. Assasin attempts to get into the ring, but immediately backs up when K-Bomb hurries over to the apron. Assasin takes advantage of K-Bomb's bad leg, and grabs him, pulling him down onto the mat. Assasin uses this opportunity to slide into the ring. K-Bomb attempting to get up to his feet, but Assasin just plowed into K-Bomb with a massive avalanche splash in the corner! K-Bomb didn't see it coming at all, and just got blindsided! K-Bomb crumbles to the canvas, and what is Assasin doing? JR: Oh my God, he's exposing the turnbuckle! K-Bomb is on one knee, and looks to be so thrown off that he doesn't know what pay per view he's at! Assasin lifts K-Bomb to his feet and uses his shoulder to drive K-Bomb backwards into that corner with the exposed turnbuckle, K-Bomb tried to slide out, but the back of his head just crashed against the exposed steel! He immediately goes limp upon impact and Assasin spins him stomach first into the corner. Assasin bends over, allowing K-Bomb to fall onto his back. Assasin lifts him up, hooks the arms, gets his running head start, and connects with The Assasination! Assasin knows what's at stake here, and immediately covers K-Bomb! 1...2...3! Assasin just drew first blood in this ironman match!
BH: Assasin was all over K-Bomb in the beginning of this match, let's see if K-Bomb can turn things around for himself. With the looks of it, Assasin is hell bent on one thing, and that's keeping the Intercontinental belt his, and obtaining the European title as well. Assasin begins to work over the knee of the fallen K-Bomb again by wrapping that wounded leg with a grapevine. K-Bomb tries desperately to escape, but has only turned himself over, giving Assasin the ability to throw in a few cheap shots to the lower back with his free hands. K-Bomb is inching his way over to the ropes while Assasin continues to club away at the back of K-Bomb. K-Bomb finally made his way to the ropes and Assasin releases the hold. Assasin is held back by the referee as K-Bomb struggles to get to his feet. Assasin finally tires of waiting and blazes past the ref. Shoving the ref out of the way, Assasin walks right into an unseen low blow from K-Bomb! JR: Assasin begins to collapse to the mat as K-Bomb catches him with a sloppy DDT, dropping Assasin straight down on his head. K-Bomb hobbles back to the corner and then up to the second rope as Assasin is stumbling to his feet. K-Bomb dives off of the second rope and attempts a large front dropkick, but Assasin catches it, pulls K-Bomb to the middle of the ring and applies the Texas cloverleaf! K-Bomb is struggling to get to the ropes despite the pressure applied by Assasin. BH: The look of frustration on the face of Assasin says it all, that K-Bomb is just plain stubborn. He won't give in to the inevitable. JR: I think it's all about desire, Brain. K-Bomb has the desire to win, that's why he's still holding out. BH: Assasin's practically sitting on the back of his neck at that angle! What on earth can K-Bomb do to escape this? JR: I haven't got a clue. I think it's near hopeless now. As much as it'd be a smart move to take the loss and rest while he still had the chance, I do know that as long as there is a single breath in K-Bomb's body, he'll never give up. Never! BH: You tell that to the ref, who's already lifted K-Bomb's limp arm up twice and watched it drop. One more, and he's out! The ref raises K-Bomb's arm for the third time, lets go, and it drops! K-Bomb has passed out from the pain! And while K-Bomb never technically submitted, Assasin does pick up another win after that strategic maneuvering.
JR: This is not looking good for K-Bomb, who is down two falls very early in this match. Assasin wastes no time and picks the limp body of K-Bomb up, and scoops him up onto his shoulders. He jumps, and he just gave K-Bomb the Detonator! BH: What an insult! JR: Assasin makes the cover, 1.........2........3!! What the hell? When Assasin talked about pitching a shutout, I didn't think he could really do it!
JR: Maybe Assasin has been right all along – maybe K-Bomb just isn't ready for the big time yet. Wait, now, finally, the ref is doing the right thing and forcing Assasin to hold off until he resumes the match, and we are down to about 25 minutes left in this match. BH: K-Bomb better find his second wind real damn quick, or else his Intercontinental championship dreams are going to die this early in the match. Wait a minute, while the ref is checking on K-Bomb, Assasin has gone to the outside of the ring, and he's grabbed a steel chair! Assasin slides back into the ring as K-Bomb is getting up, and Assasin just annihilated K-Bomb with that chair. The ref calls for the bell and a fall for K-Bomb, as Assasin has been disqualified.
JR: K-Bomb is losing blood from the forehead now after that chair shot, and look at this – Assasin walks over to K-Bomb, and puts his foot on his chest. 1........2.......3! BH: I see what Assasin was doing! He just weakened K-Bomb up even further with that chair shot, and he still keeps his three fall lead! Brilliant!
JR: This is not looking good for K-Bomb, as he is down by three falls with just around twenty minutes left in the match. The ref is checking on K-Bomb yet again, but this time Assasin just goes around the ref and begins to stomp on the European champion. The ref steps off, and now Assasin grabs K-Bomb and tosses him to the outside of the ring. K-Bomb is just lying there, motionless, as Assasin steps through the ropes. He looks down at K-Bomb, then looks at the ring steps. He goes over and moves the steps away from the ring, and sets the two pieces up side by side. He grabs K-Bomb, and hoists him up for an Assasination, but K-Bomb somehow slid down, and he lifts Assasin up, and delivers an Assasination onto the ring steps! BH: Where the hell did he get that energy? JR: I have no clue, but the bloodied European champion rolls into the ring to try and regain some of his strength as the referee counts Assasin out! K-Bomb cuts the deficit to two!
JR: Assasin is still out on the outside of the ring, and K-Bomb is still regaining strength in the ring. The ref starts to count Assasin again, and at about 6, Assasin starts to stir. 7........8.....Assasin finally rolls back in the ring, and K-Bomb drops a double axe handle on the hall of famer. He lifts Assasin to his feet and sends him into the ropes, cross body block from K-Bomb! 1........2......Assasin kicks out! K-Bomb picks Assasin up and throws him into the turnbuckle. K-Bomb charges in, and a monkey flip! Assasin flies to the middle of the ring, and K-Bomb with another cover. 1.......2.....no! K-Bomb can't believe it. He picks up Assasin again, and goes to Irish whip him into the ropes, but Assasin stops and kicks K-Bomb in the stomach, and sets him up for a powerbomb. Wait, K-Bomb takes Assasin down by the legs, and flips over top of him in a pinning situation! 1........2.........3!! Unbelievable! K-Bomb has cut the deficit to one with just under ten minutes to go!
JR: Assasin sits up with a look of shock on his face, and I don't think he can believe that K-Bomb is making this comeback on him. Assasin gets to his feet and charges at K-Bomb, but K-Bomb snags his arm and drops him into a crippler crossface! Assasin is screaming, but he uses those long legs of his to wrap around the bottom rope, and force K-Bomb to break the hold. K-Bomb backs away, but runs and baseball slides Assasin, sending the Intercontinental champ back to the outside. K-Bomb starts to make his way over, but Assasin hops up, and a hangman on the top rope. K-Bomb staggers back into the middle of the ring, and Assasin springboards off the top rope and nails a dropkick, sending K-Bomb down! K-Bomb is down in the middle of the ring, and Assasin is making his way to the top rope. Slowly but surely, he's getting there, and he is now perched on the top rope. BH: But K-Bomb is up, and he shakes the ropes, dropping Assasin down on the turnbuckle right on his "grapefruits"! JR: Ouch! K-Bomb goes over to Assasin, and gets up on the second rope, and delivers the Detonator off of the top rope! Assasin is out in the middle of the ring, but K-Bomb isn't done! He heads back to the top rope, and there's the Nuclear Impact! He makes the cover, 1........2........3!! And somehow, don't ask me how, K-Bomb has tied this match up at 4 falls apiece at the 3:46 mark of this match!
JR: Both men are down in the middle of the ring, and time is slowly ticking away. K-Bomb is the first to get to his feet, and he goes over and lifts Assasin up off of his feet. He sends Assasin into the ropes, and he catches him in a sleeper hold! Assasin is struggling to get up, but somehow he finds the energy to drive K-Bomb backwards into the corner. K-Bomb releases, and Assasin spins around, delivering a shoulder thrust to K-Bomb. BH: Only a minute and forty-five seconds to go! JR: Assasin backs up, and charges again, but K-Bomb leaps and Assasin hits the turnbuckles, and now K-Bomb with a roll-up! 1..........2.......thr-no! Assasin just barely kicked out! K-Bomb stands up – you can tell that both of these men are exhausted. Assasin makes his way to his feet, and K-Bomb comes over. K-Bomb swings, but Assasin ducks, and connects on a chokeslam! Assasin drapes his arm over K-Bomb, 1...........2......no! And with forty-five seconds left, we are still in a deadlock! Assasin stands up and brings K-Bomb to his feet with him. He sends K-Bomb into the ropes, but K-Bomb ducks a clothesline! K-Bomb comes back and leaps at Assasin, but Assasin catches him and drops him with a jumping cradle DDT!! Assasin makes the cover, 1..........2.........3!! Assasin takes the lead!
JR: Twenty-two seconds left in this match, and K-Bomb is just getting up to his feet. He charges at Assasin, but much like a bullfighter, Assasin sidesteps him, and K-Bomb runs right into the turnbuckle. Assasin grabs him, and puts him in the tree of woe position! BH: K-Bomb can't move! He's stuck upside down in the corner! JR: Assasin falls back from exhaustion as the final seconds tick away. 3.........2..........1.......0!! And this match is over! Assasin has won this epic contest! He is now the Intercontinental and European champion, and the referee drapes the titles over Assasin's exhausted body. What a showing from both men, who are, without a shadow of a doubt, two of the top superstars in the EHW today. What a way to kick off 2004! If this is a signal for the year to come, we are in for one hell of a year! Folks, form Bobby Heenan, Syleena Sowell, and all of EHW, I'm Jim Ross – goodnight from Oblivion!!
