As a young adult, I try to work in the community to help out.  I also need community service for school.  One of my lacrosse coaches this year gave the team an opportunity to go and work at the Special Olympics.  Only 4 of us went, but it was a great experience.  We worked the food booth, handing out lunch to the tired athletes.  It was truly inspiring to see the disabled work hard, whether they were in first or last.  More inspiring yet was the 50 and over category.  To be disabled and be over 50 and still compete, you have to have will power and purpose.  Above is the letter I received from the Special Olympics thanking me for my help.  My job was meal preparer and server, as the letter says.  I showed that I could help and be of benefit in the community by doing this.  I learned a lot and truly did enjoy this giving of service.

This year at school I wanted to get more involved.  I do still play football and lacrosse, but I decided that I also wanted to be in ASB.  Attached is a letter welcoming me to the ASB.  I would have shown video of my interview, but it wasn’t taped.  As a member of the ASB I will be involved in community and school functions.  I, with 2 others, am the Commissioner of Athletics.  I am to clear athletes and deal with all the sports on campus.  I also deal with rewards such as letters for athletes.  I am pleased that I got the position and look forward to helping the multi-cultural community.  I hope that I can serve in my position well, and know it will be fun.  Being in the ASB is an experience that will prepare me as an adult to be able to interact with other community members.  I hope I serve well.
