Diskussiontagen

          In order to practice speaking in German and to keep up with issues and events in German speaking countries, we will be having discussion days in class. These discussions will be in German, held on the following Fridays, and will be led by a team of two of you each time. The requirements are as follows:

1.     You will need to sign up with Frau Ott and have your topic approved. You can choose just about any topic that is appropriate for school and you think that the class will actively participate with.

2.     You should be familiar with and have done some research on the topic.  In addition, you will need to supply some background information for the other students in class in order for them to participate knowledgeably.

3.     You will need to prepare a vocabulary list of at least 25 words that will be helpful for the other students in order for them to participate.

4.     You need to come up with 6-10 questions that you can use to facilitate the discussion. Make sure that you have good opening question.

5.     The background information, questions, and vocabulary lists must be turned in on the Monday preceding your discussion.

6.     You must participate in discussions that you are not leading. Part of your grade will come from your participation in the discussions. You will need to make a minimum of 3 substantial comments in each discussion.  In order to do so, you will need to read the background information that is given to you.  No dictionaries or paper will be allowed during the discussions.
