If I were a bird
I would sing and watch over you
But since I'm not

I would shade you all day
But since I'm not
And so I'll stay away

I'd guide you with all my might
But since I'm not
Then I'll stay out of your sight

If I were a star
I'd light you from up above
But since I'm not
And so I'll hide my love

If I were a child
I would hold your hand
But since I'm not
And so I'll understand

If I were a friend
I would listen to you
And since I am
