2001 NRHS ANNUAL CONVENTION
The last event of the Convention was an excursion to Newburg, Mo.  Unlike the previous trips, this line heads inland, winding it's way up into the hills.  Steep grades gave us a chance to really hear the engine work.
A runby was done at Newburg after the engine was serviced.  This was a clear, sunny day.

In contrast to the previous excursion, this one returned early.  A BNSF Vice President was on board, and he didn't want to miss his flight.  The last runby of the convention was less than spectacular, occuring in the yards at St. Louis after the train returned.
The trains have all been run successfully, and #1522 is waiting patiently at the Amtrak depot for a Union Pacific pilot crew to escort her back to her home at the Museum of Transport.

Her trainset of private cars is being broken up so that each can return to it's respective home.
The shot below is from our Hannibal Excursion.  The passengers have just unloaded, and the train is about to back clear of the crossing before being serviced.
