Pharmaceutics : prepare the drug in dosage form .

Biopharmaceutics : science deals with all the factors affect abs. & level of bl. And hense its pharmacological effect .( or relationship bet. Dosage form and your blood).

·           the pharmacist should study all the factors that affect conc of drug and give ph effect .

factors affect conc of drug in blood:

1-formulation (eg ,Ca with tetracycline =no action)

2-subject (patient itself) {physiological factor} (eg .insulin not taken orally as it is digested)

3-drug itself

THE FATE OF DRUG IN THE BODY

Abs. Of drug from GIT ,IM,SC, rectal ,skin ,inhalation (lung)

distribution

Text Box: Tissues (receptor)

Elemination through kidney and liver

Drug in blood

kjjl

Abs. Should e small molecule + soluble

2 way arrow indicates Equilibrium and not equality :

if conc in blood decrease due to dynamic mov > this will shift drug from tissue to blood till and will be ecreated till all drug exc.

By liver and kidney.

*each process in which drug subjected in body considered as kinetic process .(by equations) and maths are useful for detn the correct dose and dose rejimen.

*major routes of exc. (kidney and liver ) unmetabolised through kidney and metabolized from liver . ,once the drug metabolized from liver it is considered eliminated (by converting the material to more hydrophilic) . ,,minor by exhalation from lung.

*content (drug) should have some lipid sol. To leave bl. To tissue (cells> cell memb.)which is lipid

*rate of enter of blood to tissue=rate const. * conc of drug in blood

Bioavailability ;the drug which taken orally can reach to the blood circulation.at minimum effective conc (which depends on the rate & the extent of the drug reach the bl .circulation)
