| Canopic Jars With the heads of the four sons of the god Horus. HERE ARE THE NAMES OF THE CANOPIC JARS,AND WHAT THEY HELD. 1.Hapy-Lungs 2.Qebehsenuef-Intestines 3.Imesty-Liver 4.Duamutef-Stomach Canopic Jars: The preserved liver, lungs,stomach, and intestines were usally stored in jars called canopic jars. The jars were put in a box, then placed in the mummy tomb. Each jar had a stopper in the shape of a head. . More often they showed human,jackal, baboon,and falcon heads. Embalming Kit: Razor-sharp flint knives were used to cut open the dead body.Bronze hooks were used to take out the brain out through the nose. The egyptains thought the brain was only used to produce snot. Natron, a natural salt, was added to dry ot the dead mummy before it was wrapped. |
