This year' s committee organized a graduate student round table around which a number of students gave brief informal talks about what we were working on and towards. There were also the obvious annual welcome back parties and end of term parties in September, December, January and April.
But by far the most involved endeavor was the organization of a first annual graduate student conference entitled "Global Linkages: Re-thinking Literature and Violence" at which 18 papers were given, in English and in French. Rinaldo Walcott gave a rousing plenary talk. And everyone was very happy about the success of the event.
