RODY JANE, the Flying Stinkwad
Rody the red heeler, found at about 9 weeks of age in February, 2004, on a rainy Missouri highway with two littermates, one of whom had been killed by a car.  She was taken in by a friend who runs a sanctuary; my husband and I drove halfway to Missouri from Wisconsin to pick her up in March of 2004.  She was named "Rody", short for Road Trip, and also goes by the name "Flying Stinkwad".  She is the light of my life, an absolute delight!  (Yes, she has taken over my chair, as well as my heart...)
This is TwoLane Truckpuppy, our beautiful golden retriever - found at the age of about 6 weeks by my husband (a long-haul trucker) in March of 2003 in the middle of a two-lane highway in Kentucky, hungry and full of worms, and obviously a dumpee.  He is now a spoiled rotten Daddy's boy, much loved and fussed over.  He has a black spotted tongue!  Looks like he swallowed a marker.  He also has severe hip dysplasia and will need an operation someday, but for now he is doing fine on glucosamine/chondroitin supplements and fish oil pills.  He is a happy boy who is a wonderful babysitter for Rody, who often attaches herself to TwoLane's ears or tail.  A more laid-back dog you could not find!
The Amazing Houdinia, our cranky little old lab/pitbull mix, found as a young pup in July of 1991 while we were camping.  Actually, SHE found US, peeking out from trees and bushes around our campsite...tick-infested and half-starved, she decided we would be the ones to take her home and love her.  She was so named because she is an escape artist - she HATES being cooped up in ANYTHING!   AND she makes things disappear - towels, socks, etc. - piling them up in closets and then laying on them.  She's not crazy about the newcomers, but will finally tolerate them.  She will not let us forget that SHE WAS HERE FIRST!!!

Sweet little Allen was in a shelter in Paris, Kentucky with 6 other adult cattledogs and 4 pups.  Prior to that he'd spent a large chunk of his life locked in a horse stall with little human contact.  He was shy and very fearful.  Transport was arranged on Valentine's Day weekend for Allen to travel from Kentucky to his new home with us in Wisconsin.  7 wonderful people volunteered their time and vehicles, and one very special person coordinated the transport to make sure Allen got a second chance at life, and we are so thankful!  Allen is an AWESOME DOG!!
