Rules and Regulations of the
European Great Japanese Dog Association
(EGJDA)

The European Great Japanese Dog Association finds its origin in the idea that every breeder and/or fancier of the world (especially in Europe) would have an idea about the population of the Great Japanese Dog, who's appearance is still very small in numbers in specific areas or country's.

The European Great Japanese Dog Association cannot and may not dispute regulations made by Organisations of the country were a specific member lives. The European Great Japanese Dog Association cannot do anything regarding specific rules made by an Organisation that is a member of FCI, AKC, CKC or The Kennel Club.

The goal of the European Great Japanese Dog Association is as follows : Give information to the members and try to find and give solutions and/or compromises for the different regulations of the above named Organisations.

Every breeder and/or fancier that lists his/her Great Japanese Dog male as a Stud Dog has to give all information and official results of X-rays, Patella and eye examinations to the group.

A litter of puppies can and will be promoted to the rest of the world, only when the mother fits the same medical examinations as a Stud Dog.  If the father of the litter is not listed by this Group then he must fulfil the above medical examinations.

Great Japanese Dog males that have not obtained their Championship Title will also be listed by the group.  This to give a broader knowledge about the gene pool that is available in the breed.

First degree mix dogs between the Great Japanese Dog and his Japanese cousin the Akita will not be listed by the European Great Japanese Dog Association.  When the mix happened somewhere between ancestors, the dog must be evaluated by the members of the European Great Japanese Dog Association as a good example of a Great Japanese Dog or an American Akita.

Every member has to accept and respect the regulations of the European Great Japanese Dog Association.

Every new candidate for membership will be introduced to the members of the European Great Japanese Dog Association.  The European Great Japanese Dog Association or an individual member of the European Great Japanese Dog Association can decide about the joining of a new member or candidate. When a member wants to refuse a candidate it may never be of a personal vendetta or goal. A member that refuses a candidate must inform the Board of the European Great Japanese Dog Association the reason for the refusal. The Board members will then investigate if a refusal is grounded or not.

The European Great Japanese Dog Association will use an email list as a meaning of discussions. These discussion may not be of hostile nature and they may not bring another member into discredit or disrepute. Personal problems must be carried out in private between members and will not be allowed in the email list of the European Great Japanese Dog Association.

Those that cannot carried out the values of politeness will be removed of the list immediately.

Breeding with sick or infected animals is not allowed. Breeders that breed with sick or infected animals will be removed from the list.

A breeder will not be removed from the list when he/she has dogs that are infected and did not know it was in first generation of the Pedigree. When the breeder is aware of any problems, proven in different combinations and still is breeding with those dogs, then he or she will be removed from the list.

The European Great Japanese Dog Association and/or the Board of the European Great Japanese Dog Association can never be responsible for deals or contracts made by its individual members. Any problems that arise between two or more members must be made in private.

The Board of the European Great Japanese Dog Association can be informed of the breaking a contract or deal with another member on purpose. The Board will investigate the situation and when necessary remove the fraudulent or misleading member of the European Great Japanese Dog Association (only in cases as for example a puppy in return for Stud service or for a puppy that is not payed for).

Members have the right and the duty to help each other on cytologic aspects. Only this way we can improve the quality of the Great Japanese Dog.

Every member has the right to promote events in their country that is organised by an organisation recognized by FCI, AKC, CKC or The Kennelclub.

Misleading or fraudulent members will be removed and the reason will be explained to the members of European Great Japanese Dog Association via the email list.
