Appel Farm, Year 2
These are photos from my second year at Appel Farm.  This is the year that Doug came, and he has been an inspiration to me.  I was getting better at printing and more complicated compositions.  This was the first year that I entered my photos in the Salem County Fair, and I got two first prizes.  Most of these photos were either taken at camp or the Salem County Fair.  These photos are better than my first year, but I was still learning.
This is a cow from the Salem County Fair.  It's so adorable!  As you can see, I won a first prize for this picture, but that was this year.  It's kind of hard to enter a photo in a contest taken after it's the contest is over.
This is a cyanotype of the same picture (no duh).  I did it on a piece of cloth.  I love these things.
This is one of the flowers outside of the Appel Farm conference rooms/photo labs.  It was one of the two I won first prizes for in my second year.  It was probably one of my best printed photos from that year.
This another one of the original two that won first prizes during my second year.  It has interesting composition, and I really like the details on the bark.  It required some burning, but it was worth it.
This is another one that I won first prize with from my third year.  After coming back from the Salem County Farm, we went to Nick's Pizzeria for lunch.  I was so happy that we didn't have to eat the cafeteria food, that I took a picture of my savior out of the bus window, and I like the way it turned out.
This is a picture of Lake Inferior at Appel Farm, covered in duck weed.  It's cool because it looks more like snow than anything else.  It's another one that I won first prize for in my third year.
I felt so sorry for this bunny when I saw it in its cage at the fair.  It's sooo cute.  There were a lot more bunnies than this, but this one stole my heart.
This is a picture of Tyler.  He was a photo major with me last year and I often went shooting with him.  I kind of like how the grass is underexposed in this picture.  It creates a certain mood.
This is another picture taken of Lake Inferior, except it's taken into the water.  You can see water droplets if you look closely.  I'm not really fond of the composition of this picture, but it's still cool.
