| Was it not my own bloodied hand that made the many murders ? - of course ! - And here are these, my red wet hands in witness; they prove it ! But you cannot judge me, nor do I feel a sting from any quarter, even when I am dead and buried, thrown upon oblivion, even then, I will get no retribution. Ha !, I did these murders yes, punish me. All those men (and women, children) yes, I squandered whole battallions; Yes, my own men killed by me, in droves for what ? Upon this simple thinking, an inquiry: "O what are they but fodder for the beast of interminable war ?" That was why I did it. Repeat: "What are they but fodder for the Beast ?" |
