biking to San Pedro

After a little bit of nothing, we borrowed a pair of Captain Morgan's bicycles and made our way to San Pedro via the dirt road. A hand-pulled ferry ride across a narrow channel, for $1.00 BZE, and we're in town. We bike through town. The center of San Pedro is built-up with tourist shops and hotels, but the outskirts have a fishing village feel to them. South of town is where many of the higher-end resorts, and, in the South end, Noga gets nearly run over by some guy on an out-of-control bike. Not much farther down the road and we 'run into' Francisco, from Windy Hill. After we exchange notes, Noga and I head back to Captain Morgan's for the 'Fiesta Del Maya' - a nice buffet of local foods. Rain showers forced the buffet from the pool deck to the restaurant, but there's a good crowd and the food is tasty, too. We eat with the Carribean sounds of a pair of local musicians in the background, and drink complimentary rum punches. Later, there's dancing and a limbo contest. A little girl about three feet tall takes first place, with myself a distant second. Claudia, one of the bartenders, sings a few songs for us, also. She has quite a nice voice. After things die down, Noga and I head back to the honeymoon cabana for the night.
