Links to the Internet

a.     Linking a word, phrase or image in a Word Document to the Internet:

·        Decide on a topic and a target population and prepare an activity with at least 3 links to the Internet. An example.

How?

·        In a new word document, ready for English, type instructions that require a visit to a site in the Internet such as: reading text, playing a game, getting support/tutorial/explanation, etc.

·        Highlight the phrase that provides the instruction and click on the icon

·        In the Internet , search for the relevant sites  and copy the URL of the site (Highlight, Edit, Copy)

·        Return to your word document. Check whether the URL is pasted in the appropriate slot. If not use the Ctrl+V pasting option.

·        OK

·        Repeat this procedure for every link to the Internet.

·        Save

Links to another Document

Linking a word, phrase or image in a Word document to another document.

·        Open a document, ready for English and type a second activity on the same topic. You may prepare links to the Internet again but also links to other documents that you have prepared in advance:

o       a modified story copied from the Internet and simplified for your class level;

o       questions on a story in the Internet;

o       explanations and/or tutorials.

o       a PowerPoint presentation

o       an excel document

An example

How?

·        In the activity document highlight the word/phrase that will link

·        Click on the icon

·        In  ÷åáõ locate the relevant document

·        Click on it

·        àéùåø

·        OK

·        Repeat this for every link to another document

·        Save

You have created a link to another word document. The blue arrow at the top of the linked page will take you back to the first document. For more detailed instructions please visit http://www.levinsky.macam98.ac.il/help/hyper2.htm

Links within the same document:

·        Open a new document and prepare for English

·        At the top of your page type:

o       The topic as the main heading

o       The titles of both activities as sub-headings

·        add both your activities into that file file, each activity on a separate page (Ctrl+Enter)

·        The file is at least 3 pages long

o       Page 1 – the headings

o       Page 2 - the first activity

o       Page 3 - the second activity

Our aim is to create links from page 1 to the various activities (page 2 or 3) and back to page 1

An example

How?

·        Scroll to the first activity (page 2), highlight the title and go to insert -  äåñôä  bookmark ñéîðéä

·        Give your bookmark a relevant name – short (e.g.: act1)

·        Repeat this for the second activity (page 3)

·        Scroll up to the top of the document (page 1) and highlight the title of the first activity

·        Click on the icon

·        Click on ñéîðéä and choose the name you gave the first bookmark (e.g.: act1)

·        OK àéùåø

·        OK àéùåø

·        Repeat for activity 2

·        Save

You have created links from the “menu” to the different sections of the file. The blue arrow at the top of your page will take you back to the menu.

Now try to create a link to the top of the page from the end of each activity!!!!! You may use the word "Top" as the linking word.
