The Alley is the hottest nightclub in the seven cities making it a great minor attraction for this area.
The Alley Nightclub is two clubs under one roof. Mostly a locals' bar, "The Alley" is located at 100 Newmarket South West right on the Hampton/Newport News City line. The Club was established in 1991, and has been through many changes since then to keep up with the times. It is the premier R&B, Hip Hop, Old School, New School, and Reggae nightspot.
They are usually open Wednesday thru Saturday. Sometimes, they are open for special events on other days, such as 4th of July recently. It was hot outside and inside, since the club was packed with all kinds of people partying and celebrating Independence Day!
They have several promotions going on during the week. Wednesday, they have a free Seafood and Soul food buffet. Along with that they have a fifty cent happy hour! That's right a fifty cent happy hour with a free buffet. If that's not enough, they also have 105.3 the premier old school radio station on hand spinning the CDs. The infamous DJ Tim Lemon is always in the house to get the dancing started if you can't get out on the floor on your own. Then late night, they have DJs from 103 JAMZ and 102.1 for your hip hop and new school dancing needs.
Thursdays is Reggae night. They have "Love People Sound" playing the hottest dance hall, Reggae, House and what ever else they can think of. It is usually a late start for the reggae lovers in Hampton Roads. For some reason people don't come out till 12 a.m. I guess they just get by with a few hours sleep to come out and party at the "Alley"
Fridays is a great after work party. The Free Soul food buffet, put out by Chef  Willie, is authentic down south cooking. This is a favorite for the locals. The fifty cent happy hour comes back again to make you happy. More radio DJs in the house livening up the party with the best old school jams early on. They also let you have a free party of your own on Fridays. That's right you and 25 of your friends get in free, have a reserved table, plus free champagne, appetizers and a cake to boot! The action gets hotter as the night goes on when 103 comes back to the club and so do all the locals. The Alley stays open till 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a really great place for the late night scene. The bar has to quit serving at 2 a.m., but the music keeps on playing and the people keep on partying after that. I guess if the club stayed open till 4 a.m. it would still keep going. People in Hampton Roads love to party all night long.
Saturday starts out with a ladies only lockup on one side with an all male review. Latin tunes are spinning on the other side with free Latin dance lessons early in the night. This is the biggest dance floor in the seven cities for all you Salsa lovers. The Latin sounds are spun by the great "El Ne Ne" one of the hottest Latin DJs. After the male revue it becomes the hottest dance party around with DJ E from 102.1 on the turntables. Remember the Alley is two clubs under one roof. If it gets too hot on one side you can see if there some action on the other side for you to check out.
Usually there is a cover charge to get in depending on the time and the day. They run several specials like ladies? night and military gets in free. They have a casual yet strict dress code so dress to impress.
Drink prices are average for the area running from $5 to "the sky is the limit." They have appetizers on the menu so if you are trying to get a dinner you better come during the free buffets.
It can be ?off the hook? at times because the club can hold 1800 people and more on some occasions. Several celebrities have dropped in from the likes of Queen Latifah, Busta Rhymes, T.I., Michael Vick, Allen Iverson, Pharrell, and several other professional athletes and music industry icons.
I think all of these great events make "The Alley" a premier local nightspot along with being a great minor attraction to the Hampton Roads area.
