"pushing the envelope of sane engineering"

UPDATES + RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
4/23/03 - paintball barrel is somewhat short-range, a paintball dropped down the long ass barrel with wadding underneath, used in conjunction with the expander, shoots very very nicely. let me just say you can hear it hit 50 feet away almost instantly.
4/22/03 - went to home depot to pick up the 1/2" to 3/4" screw adapter for the paintball barrel. while there, i realized something: the chamber has a female piece on the end. male pieces screw into female pieces. i built an 4.5" extension for the chamber section. this will increase the chamber volume by 14 cubic inches! if memory serves me correctly, the volume of the chamber should will now be expanded to over 40 cubic inches, almost doubling the power of the gun. it's going to be like a whole new toy again...
4/22/03 - been busy... modified 3/4" barrel of gun #2 to have an attachable paintball barrel. i need to the end off and make it it's own barrel, but it does shoot paintballs, althought not as hard as it would having been dropped down one of the long barrels, or even down that short barrel. shortening this piece up should result in more power. i've also pretty much designed the circuitry for the light-up waterpipe, stay tuned for that one. i'm pretty much tapped for cash until the end of the semester, so don't expect too much new stuff unless it's entirely used parts.
3/5/03 - Haven't updated this for a bit. I've reverse engineered an NES controller and built an atari/genesis controller to NES converter, replaced the LED in my NES, as well as cleaned my NES and all the games I have. Yeah, lots of NES stuff. Don't forget...if you're interrested in pretty much anything on this page I've done, ask me and I might be able to do the same for you.
2/12/03 - Built a ghetto rigged time crisis footpedal controller! In otherwords, now you can play the game just like how it's played in the arcade.
2/10/03 - Got a laser pointer! Was able to tape it onto a barrel and position it so when you look through the barrel, the dot is directly in the center of the barrel when you're 50 feet away. Reasonably accurate at shorter distances, but a little off from longer distances (mostly hits lower, due to the effect of gravity on the projectile). Will most likely be on target if used with higher-powered guns.
2/6/03 - Built gun #3. Incorporated a "U" type design, with a larger chamber than death (gun #1). Results? It sucks. Apparently the U type design only works well on pneumatic guns, not combustion. I'm thinking the backpressure caused by the 90 degree bends snuffs out the fire in the chamber before it can fully burn. Oh well.
1/25/03 - Picked up 2 books - electronic sensor circuits and timer, op-amp, & optoelectronic circuits. Redesigned the waterpipe sensor so it is pressure activated rather than smoke activated, and incorporated it into a led tracer circuit. What does this mean? Now I can build one that has crazy blinking lights when you use it. Yes, that idea i've been talking about forever is finally realized.
1/22/03 - Did some actual testing. Gun #2 shot 1/2" masking tape shots 42 feet at an average speed of 314ft/s or 214 mph! Not only that, but the highest velocity was 360 ft/s or 245 mph... keep in mind this is the small gun, and not the large one. I'm guessing the same barrel on death would shoot at least 500ft/s...explaining the accuracy that was discovered earlier. Maybe the less I know about my inventions the better...
1/11/03 - Bought a 1/2" glass drill bit. :D
1/9/03 - If you know where I can find a small solonoid (preferably free) let me know. The kind used in a doorbell (not too large, 12V) would probably be good enough.
1/9/03 - Tested out death with the 1/2 barrel and wrapped 4 inch nail shots. Cuts cardboard at 40 feet with a swath similar to the screwdriver. But then I had the idea to put the scope back on the gun. Just calibrated by visually aligning the scope and barrel, shot group was centered only 9 inches away from the target point. The shot grouping radius was only 3 inches. Now I'm scared - something made from pvc that runs on deodorant/propane is not supposed to be THAT accurate. Not only that, i shot an old license plate, and the head of the nail left an impact crater about 3/8" deep, as well as a perfect imprint of the head of the nail (these are big ass outdoor nails).
1/7/03 - Tested ice shot for gun. Does not work well, due to the fact that ice expands when it freezes, meaning it didn't quite slide down the barrel as planned.
1/7/03 - Had an idea to make a heat sensitive waterpipe interface, based on the idea that certain parts heat up and retain heat while in use. This not only allows for threshold based switch, but for variable control of somethin, say the rate of blinking lights.
1/6/03 - My infamously long in development digitally mixed cd is now around 35 tracks in 63 minutes. If you can't figure it out, that's pretty much unreal. The whole concept behind this cd is by mixing digitally by hand, I do pretty much whatever I can think of, and definetly more than I could live (i'm still better than some people I know.), including using tracks I do not have access to on vinyl (and probably never will).
1/2/03 - Added ammunition page. Viewer discretion is advised.
1/2/03 - Started work on Potato Gun Mark II and accessories. Built an adapter to attach new 1/2" barrel to Death, the previous gun, making it overpowered considering the new barrel has 1/4 the volume of the "correct" size barrel. Overpowered = loud as all hell! Tried shooting it with a potato chunk with nothing glued together, and the adapter popped right out. Tested what happened with an air compressor, it only took 25psi to pop it out again. Note that a correct size barrel of that 1/2" diameter for that gun would need to be over 5 feet long...and this one is 2 1/2, meaning it results in about a 4:1 chamber:barrel ratio. The ideal ratio is 1.5:1.
12/31/02 - Stopped into Radio Shack next door after pickin up a new hoodie at K-mart. Didn't have any laser modules in stock, otherwise I'd probably have built a laser sight for my gun by now. Apparently they are kept in the back in some stores so kids won't steal them. If anyone wants to go steal me one, go right ahead. A doctor can't operate with dirty hands. I'm sure there's an FBI file on me by now anyway.
12/30/02 - Realized I had a propane torch sitting around. Tried that as potato gun propellant. Stinks, but works very well.
12/26/02 - I got what I wanted for christmas. Funding for what I do. If you didn't already realize that, the gates of hell just busted wide open.

Music stuff:
http://unabombertk.djcentral.com - this is my DJ page. Everything I put out goes up on there. If you register (it's free) you can listen to the final version of my mix cd (44 tracks, 76 minutes) in streaming media player audio, in both dialup and near cd quality (128k) broadband versions. Just click on the mix sets link. If you want to buy a copy, just ask me. $5, bitches.
The Hardcore List - If I like it, it goes up on here, with bpm. It's pretty much a referrence list to help me remember what groups of tracks can mix with each other, both as far as speed and style.

Funds used this year to date (as of 1/2/03): $30

Projects:

"Novelty Fruit + Vegatable Projectile Combustion Launchers"
Death - deodorant/hair spray powered rifle which uses chunks of fruit, vegatables, and other misc objects as projectiles.
Silencer - Muffles gun report to sub paintball gun levels. Bad Ass.
Ammunition - If it fits in the barrel, chances are there's a way to shoot it.
Potato Gun Mark II - Smaller version of death. Has both 1/2" and 3/4" barrels for versatility. 1/2" barrel is adaptable to work with death.
Laser Sight - targeting made easy, not to mention fun and makes you feel gangsta. Straight up bad ass.

Video Game Controllers:
PSX Arcade Steering Wheel - Under Development. PSX controller analog section reverse engineered. Need to go buy a steering wheel and seat from a junkyard, not to mention design and build the steering system (geared so 2 turns in one direction = full turn)
PSX Stand Up Arcade Unit - I already know how psx controllers work. This will get started as soon as I get an empty arcade cabinet off of TNT amusements. I could just build my own cabinet, but this is cheaper + easier + more impressive.
Atari 2600 to 5200 controller adapter - 5200 controllers are cool but they suck.
Atari 2600/Sega genesis controller to NES adapter - yeah, that's right - play nintendo games with a sega controller, without modifying the controller or NES!
Green NES light - I got bored one day and replaced the trademark red LED with a green one.

High Technology
Deuce - Double filtration device designed for optimum ease of use
Vaporizer - device to vaporize material without losing vapor or burning the used material.
Digital Logic Smoke Sensor - under development
High Engineering 420 - Gas dynamics applied to waterpipe design.
Thermal Logic/Variable Sensor - researching
Gas Flow
Gas Piston Pump - no longer under development
Impeller Pump - under development
Check Valves - how to make your own 1 way gas valves

Carpentry
Portable Beirut Table - full size 8' x 3 1/2' beirut table folds up to 2' x 3 1/2' for transportation.
Skateboard ramps - being designed
Bed-lift system - you all know how much stuff i have and how few places to put it. Will have totally enclosed refridgerator/storage space as well as be lockable. This fat bastard is probably going to permanently reside in the house after I'm done with it.

Misc Electronics
Knight Rider Lights - LED tracer for cars

Everything c 2001-2003 TK.
If you rip this stuff off after reading half of what's on here, you've got balls. <BGSOUND SRC="timeisup.html">
