I moved to Nashville for college, and I had been wanting to go to the taping of the show, mainly because it was a tv show, and I had never seen a tv show being filmed. But, I had just moved to Nashville, and I didn't have any friends that liked country music, so I didn't have anybody that wanted to go with me. Then one day I happened to meet a girl named Leslie who had gone to the show many times with a few of her friends. So, we decided that we were gonna go to the show together the next day. So, when we got there, I was totally amazed with the fact that they were about to tape a real live TV show right there LOL. When Lance came out to the set before the show, my first thought was, "He's even cuter on tv than he is in person." And, he noticed me looking at him, so he waved at me. Then, after the show, I thought I'd try to get a picture taken with him. And, once again, (the guy has hawk eyes or something), he noticed me looking at him, so he looked up and asked if I needed something. So, I asked if he would take a picture with me. He was like, "Well of course!" and ran over to me and put his arm around me and smiled for the camera.
The next time I went, a few days later, Leslie and I waited in line to talk to him after the show. Once we came up to the front of the line, he talked to us like we had known him forever. Of course, he had known Leslie longer than he had known me. After going to the show a few times, he would come talk to me before I got a chance to come to him. So, of course, I immediately became a big fan!
When MWL changed the format and moved to the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase, Greg Martin and Katie Cook took over to host. I was so upset because Lance was the best host for the show, plus, I would never get to see him now that he was off the show. So, I emailed him a few times and he always wrote back if he got a chance to. And, I got to see him once, when he was a guest on MWL. He came in and immediately walked to me and Leslie and gave us hugs and talked for a little while, and we got a group picture taken.
This past summer, Lance actually came back to host MWL for a few months, so I got the chance to see him in action as a host and see the way he interracts with his fans. There is never a dull moment with him there.
Plus, I got to talk to him after the tapings of the show and got to know him a little more.
Lance is the most genuinely nice person I have ever met, along with being a great VJ for CMT. He interracts with audiences well and is very entertaining to watch. And, he is extremely talented.
