Ian Abrams & Vik Rubenfeld
Next on the schedule, was Ian Abrams and Vik Rubenfeld. Two of the co-creators of Early Edition. It was amazing to hear the two different approaches on how they wanted this show to be.
"What would you do if you got tomorrow's newspaper today?" Was a key line when they pitched the idea. Mr. Rubenfeld wanted something, new, unique and different. TV had tons of cop shows, lawyer shows, people on space ships. Viewers needed something new. Boy did we and still do. Thank goodness Mr. Rubenfeld is working on some new projects and hopefully they will be picked up by a network and we will have another show on tv that will capture our imagination like Early Edition did.

Trying to get an idea, actually onto a tv screen when you have not done so before, is technically impossible in Hollywood. So that is where Ian Abrams comes in. Vik and Pat did a description of the show and pitched it first, to a lawyer to get a feel for pitching the show. Vik belonged to a group called the PAGE and that is how Vik knew Ian. At one of the get togethers, Vik mentioned his and Pat's idea for Early Edition. About a month later they met at RJ's for lunch and pitched the idea to Ian.

The rest of this story is included on the Ian Abrams page.

It was wonderful to have both of these creators on hand to give us all the behind the scenes details of how this show came about. We are very lucky in the first place that they came up with this idea, and secondly that they were able to get a network to pick it up. As much as I wish that the show was still on the air, it was a blessing we had it at all.

Thank you very much to the creators of this show. I think I can honestly speak for all of us who attended the convention, that this show was special. A once in a lifetime type of show that has touched our life in one way or another.
