I wish I had more adequate words to describe Ron Dean. He was wonderful!! Unfortunately I missed almost an hour of his talk because I was in pursuit of pictures of the Sun Times building and McGinty's.
Mr. Dean had the audience wrapped around his little finger. He was witty, charming, and funny. I dare say, he made a room full of women forget about Kyle Chandler for about 2 hours :) As you know that is no small feat.
Mr. Rubenfeld introduced himself to Ron Dean and Ron replied "Oh, okay. I didn't mean to say nothing bad about it." To which the audience roared in response. Then he said "Well, create another one. I think Crumb and Kyle ....." We all agreed.
When asked what it was like to be handcuffed to Fisher in "Second Sight" he replied "I hated it!! I did. I pulled his moustache off, that wasn't in the script."
Right now Mr. Dean is not working on any projects, but he promised if he got anything he would pull Kyle in on it. ;)
He said he loved playing Jake's dad on What about Joan. He got to be such a mean father to him and he loved it! But he says he has a soft spot in his heart for Kyle.
After entertaining us with stories about his career he waited around and signed autographs, then hammed it up in the back of the room by life size cut outs of Kyle, Shanesia (with Spike) and Fisher. At one point he held the hem of his coat out and made a face so that it looked like Spike had hold of his jacket. He was a very funny and gracious man.
