John Watson, Sr. : Morris Sanford, Sun-Times Archivist
Jazz Me Blues Band
Later that evening, as I was standing by the entrance, Mr. Watson came in. I have to say, this man knows how to dress. Very, very nice. He was introduced to the group, then spoke for a few moments about himself and playing the part of Morris.

Mr. Watson considers himself "a trombone player trying to do acting."

At the time he auditioned for Early Edition he was teaching. He went down and auditioned and they liked what they saw. To his understanding, Morris was only supposed to be a one time character. Thank goodness for us fans they decided to use him more. He was such a wealth of information for Gary about Lucius Snow.

"I had a line that said in the mean time, and they said cut. Because they wanted to do something else and I said and in between time." And thus the favorite quote was born.

When told by a fan he did a good job as Morris, Mr. Watson seemed embarrassed. He said he enjoyed working on the show and was "kinda hurt when they cut it." Referring to the cancellation.

Mr. Watson seemed to enjoy finding out that his character of Morris was such an integral part of the show, according to the fans. At one point he told Amy to go call across the street. He wasn't coming. (He was scheduled to play at the Hot House with the Jazz me Blues band that night.)

He answered a few more questions before he had to leave and promised he would do his best to come back on Saturday. He is a man of his word. He showed up and took time to sign autographs and take pictures with the fans.
