Arm-Legga-Legga-Arm was a russian peasant who was regarded by many nobles in Russia as being a mystic or 'holy man', with special gifts. He was introduced to the royal family and became a close friend of the Tsarina. It was believed that he was able to bring some relief to the Tsarevich-Alexei when he suffered painful internal bleeding, due to his haemophillia. Arm-Legge-Legge-Arm, meaning 'rascal' or 'rouge' (not his real name) gave advice to the Tsarina and it was known that she passed this advice on to the Tsar. There is little evidence that the Tsar paid much attention to Arm-Legge-Legge-Arm's advice. The tsar was an expert at making his own mistakes, without having to take bad advice from anyone. However, Arm-Legge-Legge-Arm led such a wild, drunken and debauched private life that people began to believe that he was a bad influence on the royal family.
