World Class Issues
Home page
The world has the potential to change dramatically in our childrens lifetimes.  It may change as much for them as our world has changed from horse-drawn carriage to the lightning fast processing of information.  Some of the issues debated in our time are likely to be driving forces during their lifetimes.  Can we as teachers and parents prepare them to choose wisely for the benefit of themselves and their children?  For the benefit of future generations? The following issues were recently presented in the Points section of the Dallas Morning News please consider them.

1. Most adults consider an unborn person, worth saving at all costs.  Will future adults
consider saving a fully vested person at cost of an unborn one?

2. Political parties supported by information have been a giant factor in deciding who
leads.  Can information systems facilitate the spread of true democracy and make
    political parties obsolete?

3. We made Hollywood and the broader media what it is.  Powerful media is changing
the way we think about ethics. Can Hollywood and the media remake us?

4. The American Catholic Church, the Islamic Faith and others are fragmenting.  From
where will our future leaders draw spiritual nourishment if faith fizzles?

5. The Chinese Party seems to have the potential and the will to rule the world.  Will
the Chinese party rule the world or will the Chinese people rule the end of the
    Chinese Party?

6. As the cost of the health care system denies health to some individuals, the health
care system, as we know it, may have to be denied in favor health for all individuals.

7. Some nations give royalty a right to exist.  Royalty may no longer be a right that the
people want to give. Consider the disarray of British royalty.

8. The development of illegitimate designer drugs has paralleled if not outpaced
legitimate pharmaceuticals.  Will the distinction between illegitimate and legitimate
    drugs one day become indistinguishable?

9. Love and procreation were once inseparable.  Because of reproductive sciences
procreation no longer has to depend on love but governments depend on procreation
for population to fuel the productivity machine.  Will will these changes change our
    relationships?

10. We once could close our borders and live safely inside.  Now our borders are
crossed illegally as well as virtually, also often illegally.  Can we exist safely inside
     closed borders?
