If our human race is to continue and our planet is to survive with its population and ecology intact, future generations must be smarter, more confident, more courageous and more caring than any children who have ever gone before. To raise such children successfully and educate them thoroughly is an awesome responsibility. The issues outlined elsewhere in this website demonstrate the necessity.
Even more awesome is the responsibility borne by parents in raising their children. I am committed to working with and supporting parents in their cause of nurturing future citizens and leaders. The parents and citizens of Texas took the lead in engineering a better educational system founded in solid content. The system is called TEKS.
The standards by which we teach, TEKS in Texas, assures that all educators and parents are are on the same page in guiding our children�s education. The TEKS structure is the only way now available to teachers to make sure that a child has everything needed to proceed with the construction of a beautiful mind. I support the well conceived and ever developing TEKS system and I will use it to help insure that none of my students are ever left behind.
In order for a child to grow up confident, whole and capable she or he must be allowed and encouraged to practice making good decisions. I will manage my classroom in such a thoughtful and caring way that my students will be inspired to risk the consequences of greater and greater decisions in order to build confidence and courage in themselves and in their capabilities.
Finally, I must and do have strength, courage, cognitive abilities and good judgment to persevere as children struggle in becoming the persons that they are meant to be. That will involve constant planning, reflection and revision of myself as a teacher and my person as a citizen. I try to take a professional and ethical approach to everything I do and I give my commitment to excellence in my product, beautiful minds. I look forward to enjoying this indispensable work. I know that I will have fun with it too.
