The EDW Championship Hunt
Based on what we saw at EDW 13, it is now a very arguable point that Wreckage is the greatest EDW champion there has ever been. Never before had a champion been this open to defending their title, and the quality of defences are of the highest standard. That said, taking a look at the EDW talent pool provides a very interesting view of the mountains that Wreckage still has to climb in order to cement his position as the best EDW Champion ever. Who are his biggest threats, and what does the future hold for the champion?

KO Kid - The first EDW champion ever, KO Kid has improved no end since his initial title run. Another title reign must be something he wants looking at the course his career thus far. As EDW Commissioner, KO has tremendous power, and blatane misuse of this power has tremendous repercussions, as Edwards' formation of the Immortals proved. Nevertheless, the valiant effort put forth at EDW 11 in his match with Wreckage, as well as his victory over former champion Scot Williams at EDW 13 make it certain that KO is a definite threat to Wreckage's position as top dog.

Virus - Another man who has been on a role as of late. The seemingly rejuvenated Virus was able to put to rest his longtime rivalry by scoring a clean win over V.E.R.N. at EDW 11, and followed that up by defeated Wreckage in a non-title match at EDW 12, albeit due to interference from Shaun Riven. Since then, Virus has handed Gei Ki Jin his first singles loss, as well as beat Scot Williams in a Horrorcore match, that proved to the world how tough he is. Virus has never held the EDW Title, despite being with the company since it's beginning eight years ago. He is as hungry for the title now as he ever was, and is one that Wreckage needs to keep a watchful eye on.

Jayme Future - While practically everyone in EDW hate the change in Jayme's attitude as of late, there can be little doubt that he is as valid a threat to Wreckage to anybody in EDW. Jayme has a clean pinfall victory over Wreckage that he earned prior to Wreckage winning the title, which gives him a bragging right that no-one else in EDW has. The young, cocky, braggadocios kid with a hunger to be the the champion has pissed off a lot of people recently, but has made no bones that he wants Wreckage's title. After an airtight contest with Wreckage at EDW 13 and a controversial outcome, Jayme is still very much a strong contender.

"Ice Man" Scot Williams -  The man that Wreckage defeated for the EDW title has gone into somewhat of a tailspin since his championship loss. In his first match since losing, Scot was betrayed by Jayme Future, leading to a tremendous contest at EDW 12. While Scot did earn the pinfall victory with a backslide, Jayme Future got the last laugh by superkicking Scot immediately after. Scot's attempt at revenge was a failed one. At EDW 13, he was defeated by KO Kid and Virus with no excuse to offer. While it can not be denied that Scot is as good as anybody in EDW when it comes to wrestling skill, he needs to oveturn this latest turn of events before he can pose a threat to champion Wreckage.

V.E.R.N. - Although he has seemed to be motivated by hatred and revenge rather than a desire to win a championship, a look at EDW history shows that V.E.R.N. has been the EDW champion before, and certainly had the credentials to be a threat. Though losing decisively at EDW 11 to rival Virus, and at EDW 12 to Shaun Riven, he was given an opportunity at EDW 13 at Wreckage's title, but his efforts proved unsuccessful. When it was clear he couldn't put Wreckage down, he instead opted to attack him with his nunchucks. Make no mistake, V.E.R.N. is a dangerous individual, but his erratic behaviour is sometimes a detriment when it comes to chasing the biggest prize in EDW.

Shaun Riven - Ever since Kash Flow died a sudden death, Shaun Riven has been somewhat of a question mark in EDW. While he defeated Virus at EDW 9, his loss to Gei Ki Jin at EDW 10 made him flip once more, breaking GKJ collarbone in the post-match attack. At EDW 12, he added another credendial to his resume by beating V.E.R.N. and then, more importantly, costing Wreckage his match with Virus. Riven's appearance is deceiving, and what we witnessed may have been a calculated attempt to direct Wreckage's anger towards him, provoking him into giving Riven a title opportunity. Whether he could defeat Wreckage is a different story, but it a story yet to be told.

Gei Ki Jin -
Though we have never seen GKJ focus any energy towards the EDW Title, his record is mightily impressive, with wins of Virus, V.E.R.N, KO Kid and Shaun Riven. Suffered an injury during a post-match attack at the hands of Shaun Riven at EDW 10 which put him on the shelf, and his return at EDW 13 resulted in his first ever singles loss. GKJ is without a doubt an exciting competitor that brings something different to EDW, but he remains an enigma in this field. Time will be the decided factor here.

Mr. EDWards - I know what you are thinking, and yes, he is a dark horse, but when it comes to Edwards, unpredictability is a way of life. Nobody saw his return to the ring coming. Nobody thought he would turn on Wreckage. Nobody though he would become a power mad figure with hopes of controlling EDW with an iron fist. Nobody thought he would walk into the middle of the EDW ring at EDW 13 dressed as Jim Duggan. In other words, Edwards trying to win the World Title would not be the strangest thing to happen in this man's life.

The Conclusion: Looking at those who could dethrone Wreckage, one has to wonder is the champion will be able to handle it. Wreckage has always been a man that has given it his all, and his past defences and road to the title proved that. Wreckage has been able to thus far hold off all comers, but Wreckage's days as EDW champion are still young, and he is still finding out that as hard as it is to become EDW champion, it may be even harder to remain on the highest pedestal there is, with the rest of the EDW roster attempting to wrest away the thing he has fought so hard to achieve.
