7 Deadly Questions - Virus

Q1 - What is your favourite EDW show?

Virus - "I will go against the common belief here. I will say EDW 8. It featured 4 matches that I would say had the best overall quality spread in an EDW event: 3-Way X-League, Vern Vs Virus, Ice Vs KO and Future Vs Wreckage. It was a privilage to be part of that. Although, I must say, that a draw with VERN was neither my intention or my preference for an ending. But I got him in the long run."

Q2 - What do you think about your character?

Virus - "My character has evolved in recent times. After the change of outfit I tried to push a change of pace. I am not 'fit' in any way, but I tried more afterwards. God knows if the mask had some kind of lucha influence. Frankly, I feel that I have always set out to decimate my opponents. That is not to say I have no respect for them, it is merely the desire to win by any means neccasary."

Q3 - Who are your inspirations and influences as a wrestler?

Virus - "The personna of Virus began about 8-9 years ago. Hence I was young. Although much of my style has changed over time there are still remnants of 'Taker and Kane there. Besides those various Japanese wrestlers have inspired me to increase my intesity and Ring of Honor (in general) showed me what could happen if I pushed the pace. Strangely another major influence was Sean O'Haire, whose Seanton Bomb inspired me to fly. Of course I have to give a nod to Mark Sloan, James Tighe and Justin Richards at FWA Academy who transformed my style entirely."

Q4 - What is your favourite match featuring you?

Virus - "EDW 7, Virus Vs Ice. No question. It was my first match as a fan favourite and the introduction to my new style and attire. I feel Scot and I did a lot that day and pushed each other to the limits. Sure he beat me, but I felt that laid our fued of hatred to rest forever. Previously we had fought constantly through the years with anger, but in this match all was vented and on the day the better man won. We didn't touch each other again until EDW 13, and that match was the first to be underlined with respect."

Q5 - What is your favourite EDW match ever?

Virus - "This is a terrifying spot to be placed as EDW is a constantly evolving entity. Jayme Future Vs Kash Flow at EDW 1 was a phenominal match at the time and inspired many others.... But today, it just doesn't hold up. The same can be said for many matches in EDW, few seem to have that Flair/Steamboat timeless quality. I think that, if put on the spot, I might just have to say X-Dream Vs Eggman at EDW 10 has got to be... Just kidding. Scot Williams Vs Wreckage at EDW 10 was not the most technically sound match in EDW history, but being there that night was like nothing else. The crowd was so behind Wreckage it was unbelievable. When he won that title... It was like nothing else. Already the match is fading in my mind faster than a Kash Flow promo (thats my own mental issue), but that feeling...There has never been anything like it in EDW before or since. Wreckage and Iceman went to their limits in that match, but it was the fans who made that match for me and their awe at Wreckage's victory will remain timeless to me."

Q6 - Who is you favourite opponent(s)?

Virus - "Difficult answer, there are so many... V.E.R.N has brought a lot out of me recently, and I thank the little [beep] for it. Gei Ki is a recent favourite too and looking back I feel our matches have been short, but sweet and full of energy. But it has to come back to Scot Williams. We started wrestling in EDW many years before EDW 1 and it has got to the point where Ice and I know each other so well that you can guarentee that the match will feature a lot of crazy stuff just to keep each other down. Overall, he is the only guy in EDW that I will stand up and say I respect and the only person I will shake hands with. He is my nemesis, but you keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Q7 - Who would you like to wrestle in the future?

Virus - "I believe I have wrestled everyone on the active roster in EDW. Looking forwards I hope one day that I get to fight EDW wrestlers who were lost along the way, Boy Wonder and Psycho Manta spring to mind. I guess though I have my sights set on Wreckage. I have never held the title, despite being here from the beginning. At EDW 14 it seems I may get a shot, I do not plan to waste it."
